Sabres, Elie agree to 1-year contract
$700,000 for one year, 2-way deal. No arbitration hearing (which is probably good for him).

One way dealMinimum possible salary, and two way.
Wtf was he asking for I wonder, because he clearly didn’t think he’d get it.
True, but maybe the team ended up giving him more guaranteed money in the AHL than they originally offered.Agreed.
And he lost.
Since $700k is the minimum NHL salary, presumably negotiations had to do with how much he gets paid in the minors.
I asked this in another thread and at-mentioned you. This is the answer to that question.
Can't begrudge the guy for wanting a little bit more to ride the bus in the minors.
I don't think he's getting that much in the AHL as it is a two-way dealI can't stop staring at the way you described ~$600k as "a little bit more"
Waste of a roster spot.

GotchaHa, yeah, I was referring to the difference in salaries between a 1 way (~700k) and 2 way deal (~70-100k). The difference would be around 600.
