HB is right it is very much a timing thing.
If Tinner and Bolo had played all of last year with the Big Club we could get away with it.
We would take an Eberle as a opportunity not to be missed VS He's exactly what we need to win the cup.

Chester Nimitz put it best when he said Eberle is a lateral move.
Not the quickest route to pass go but perhaps a good Chance or Community Chest card?

Do you believe Eberle has what it takes to be a top performer on our team?

And.i ain't talking about pure production, but the whole shebang: defensive coverage, puck possession, board battles.

Basically, would Eberle emerge as more.than the sum of his points on our team?

If you believe so, pull the trigger. He could always become fantastic trade bait after having proved he can be an effective player on a team that isnt the Oilers

That's my thought process....

Does it make our defence weaker (for the time-being): yes
But a trade centered around Emelin/Eberle is a steal for us (assuming there's no big ++++)

Following this, trading one of our excess centremen could get us a d who can play in the second pairing.

I think if Bergevin does this, he has a plan in mind to fill the hole.

Absolutely has the tools to be a good two way. Something very teachable unlike the O talent.
It would obviously have some effect on his production.
He can help us bring more balance/talent to 1, 2 and 3 but isn't the Power Guy we need.
People need to remember we've had talks about Eberle in the past. MB doesn't seem to budge when he's made up his mind regarding a player(s) value. It is very possible the players discussed last year are no longer on the table. We know "Who Flung Poo" it was Eklund.

If you deal a guy like Emelin off of your team for a guy like Eberle, you do it on draft day, with a plan on July 1st to replace him.

Substracting Emelin from our D would make us worst, much worst than we'd get better on offense if we added Eberle.
 I don't know what our defense would look like without Emelin right now. He's a true warrior that is able to go regularly in the corners and physically win one on one puck and body battles against big forwards.

Tinordi and Beaulieu.

Well Eakins has a hard enough time communicating with his NA guys.
Based on Yakupov's progress Edmonton might do well to pass on Emelin.

Tinordi and Beaulieu.

Definetly.

But the important part would be: his pro scouting AND Timmins tell him that Eberle would be a good fit.

And those have rarely disapointed so far in their tenure.

Emelin for Eberle is a complete no brainer. Bergy would have jumped on this in a second if it was available.

Emelin is a good defender and has been good all ear but he's replaceable. Eberle is a game breaker type forward. He has huge upside especially on a team like the Habs that can bring a structure he doesn't have in Edmonton.

Don't see how anyone wouldn't make this trade in a heart beat. Add Petry and some add ins on our end and it's a done deal. Problem is that it's not a reliable source and it's an unrealistic trade for Edmonton to make.

Tinordi. Then you can trade for a vet during the year. A lot easier to find than a player like Eberle.

Let's face it, all you need is for Tinner to stay back and be safe. PK is the straw that stirs that duo.

Yes, let's give up a lot of assets for Eberle... then he can become our Phil Kessel. Scoring stars are exciting but they don't guarantee championships as some seem to think

Dont make silly comparison like that

We arent centering our scoring around Eberle. We already have a winning team; merey finding an extra edge

The leafs are awful and have nothing to show for all their moves. The Habs are steady and want to jump to contender status.

I am just worried that, while Eberle would be fantastic for us if he is a fit, it would mortgage our future cap space...

- Tinordi
- Beaulieu
- Galchenyuk
- Gallagher

Are all up for contract renewal this year. First two might give us discounts, but the other two..?

Sure. Trading Emelin for Ebby will mean we will have thr space filled to the brim and no big contract.coming off the books, unless we lose Moen and Bourque..

A centre would almost assuredly go aswell though. That's one of their biggest needs and you cant get Eberle for Emelin and spare parts.
