Excluding contracts. Which of the two would you take on your current roster?
Does this need to be done again?
Matthews because he's already a 2x 40 goal scorer, his defensive player is a lot better and he's been on a team who's made the playoffs the first three years of his career.

I still remember when Sabres fans said their rebuild was well ahead of the Leafs after Eichel was drafted and they had traded for Ryan O'Reilly. So it's not irrelevant that Matthews has been on winning teams and Eichel has not.Of the three things you have listed, one is false and another is entirely irrelevant. Impressive.
If you look deeper into Matthews stats he's better defensivley this season. On what planet is Matthews a better defensive player? Matthews is a significantly better goal scorer, Eichel is better at everything else.
I guess you forgot that Matthews scored 40, 34, & 37 goals the previous 3 seasons when Mitch Marner was not on his line at 5v5.Eichel is a tier above. 82 points last year, and 30+ goals and 68 points already this year while being reliable in every zone. He doesn't have a Mitch Marner to get him pucks, he's doing it all by himself.
He thought coming out and saying because he is a maple leaf would have been perceived as homerism so he came up with made the playoffs his first 3 years.Of the three things you have listed, one is false and another is entirely irrelevant. Impressive.

This shows how Matthews has improved defensivley since he's currently 3rd in takeaways with 58.Can you give some context to Eichel being better defensively? Someone put up the fancy charts. Matthews has been better at every comparable level /year.

It's still a fact that Matthews has had better team success than Eichel since both started their NHL careers. He thought coming out and saying because he is a maple leaf would have been perceived as homerism so he came up with made the playoffs his first 3 years.
17/20 PP time per game (~ last 2.5 season)Eichel is a tier above. 82 points last year, and 30+ goals and 68 points already this year while being reliable in every zone. He doesn't have a Mitch Marner to get him pucks, he's doing it all by himself.
Yeah that 20 games with Mitch (or there abouts) has really propped up his whole career..... It's like you guys don't even try to be honest.Eichel is a tier above. 82 points last year, and 30+ goals and 68 points already this year while being reliable in every zone. heres an interesting article on Matthews improvement in the defensive zone this season if anybody would like to check it out.
It's kind of a myth and an empty handed statement that Matthews is still poor in the defensive zone still.
