Just noticed something really remarkable.
Portland finished 14th overall in the WHL, with a very young team. (only 1 overage player, only 2 NHL drafted players. An 18 yo winger drafted in the 5th round by the Pens, and a 19 yo defenceman which I drafted in the 6th round (and the reason I checked up on the team).

As a .500 team they then went on to win the championship, starting every series on the road (except for the final where they somehow(?) got to start at home againt the #1 overall team)

After finishing a season I was reading through the trophy winners and I noticed this;

Check the runner-up on the selke trophy - Yes it's the real one!

It always has some odd choices for the Selke. I'm not sure how the game picks who wins or is nominated. I've noticed several times that the forward doesn't even have good defensive skills yet they always win.

Me too, it's also usually a goon who doesn't play a lot of games... Maybe it has something to do with hit/game or PIM/game

Yeah, Scott actually won it in a year that I played. He played 26 games in the NHL and 50 in the AHL and won the Selke

I tend to just disregard when a player wins any trophy outside of a statistical one (Art Ross, Rocket Richard, etc.)

two questions...

a) when does the CHL Import list get generated... I am currently GM of Norway U20 and PA in WHL and i need a few new players for Norway and wanted to know when the game generates the new prospects for CHL Import Draft..

b) Not sure which of the two defenseman to draft with my Prince Albert franchise as we finished the worst team in the WHL as i am rebuilding my club..

#1 ranked RD Arlo Werenka

These are the things that make me wanna kick my laptop out the window.
I've had a terrible season, injury wise. At one point had 9 rosters players out. This was the first game of the entire season (game 62!) where I was able to play my full lineup.
So what happens. My top 2 centers go down.. ON THE SAME PLAY

Defense scoring seems a little high in the new database.

Also no idea how Pittsburgh manages to miss the playoffs when their top players are ~+80. Worst bottom six ever?

Wow, dem assists! I haven't really played around with the new DB. I wonder what caused defensemen to suddenly start producing so much more.

Oh the irony...

The funny thing though is that Oilers are cup contender on this save, with players like Carey Price, Ryan Kesler, Jack Eichel, Leon Draisaitl and Mike Green.

Looks like you have the game settings on quick sim instead of full detail. That will adjust scoring in general. Otherwise it's nearly impossible for defensemen to get more than about 60 points

Anyone else always so extremely bummed out by a key player of yours being out for like 4 months?

The awful thing is that it's always a #1 dman or my goalie (in this case as well). My secondary goalie cant really step up for the main position and I have nothing else now heading into the playoffs. :(

I've got a longish-term Sabres game going atm, figured it'd be fun to run through every NHL team's starting lineup in 2022.

Asterisks are for newly generated guys.

When playing as Junior teams anyone else offer their guys out on loan as opposed to sending them to your affiliate? I usually keep some older guys wwithout much potential on my affiliate in case of injuries, but I find sending younger guys to better leagues is better for their development.

Neal - Kesler - P. Kane
Nurse - Trouba

:amazed: Not bad... I think we can do without Kesler and just use Scheifele but I like that lineup.

Haven't played in forever. I have been so in Destiny the last few months.

And fong, I haven't done it myself but I have offered tryouts to European players on my reserve list and end up having them the whole season (keep sending the max length try out) :sarcasm: It's "kind of" a loan

Yeah, I was having a problem on full detail where my top players would play like 45-50 minutes a game but I managed to find a work-around. Defense scoring is back to normal now that I can actually use full detail properly. Cheers.

(With that said, Rasmus Ristolainen has 42 points in 48 games playing on my second pairing + 1st PP unit, and this is on full detail...)

Definitely. No point having them to play Jr. B when you can loan them to Jr. A teams. Just have to check regularly if they get enough playing time.
