EHEC SEEKING GM's FOR SEASON 11

We simulate using the original EHM Freeware and simulate one league day for every one real life day. This allows us to input real life draftee's each year. The league is was founded in 2009.
While player development has diverged slightly from real life, the league remains incredibly realistic and accurate for how long it has been running. At this point, EHEC must be considered the greatest EHM league of all time.

AVAILABLE TEAMS: PIT, NYR, FLA, WSH, CBJ, CGY, MIN, WPG, ARI

EHEC has finished its record-setting* eleventh season. Our website now features snazzy pages with career stats and so forth. Will Jumbo Joe end his career with 999 assists? Will Ilya Kovalchuk break 800 goals? There's only one way to find out** - join us! You'll be just in time for our 12th NHL entry draft. Available teams include:

The Calgary Flames: Two years removed from their last Stanley Cup, the Flames have a star duo in Matthews & MacKinnon and one of the youngest rosters in the league but have struggled with cap issues as a result. They have the 8th overall pick to build on and could go in any direction.
The Philadelphia Flyers: The Broad Street Bullies actually lost the Finals to the Flames two years ago. Like their, uh, Alberta rivals, they have a young roster, but with some minor cap wizardry they could easily become Cup contenders again. They have the most physical roster in the league and are just looking for an injection of scoring talent.

Calgary and Philly are filled and EHEC's entry draft is over! That means that unrestricted free agency is set to begin and training camps are around the corner!

The Florida Panthers are coming off their best season ever, with 109 points and a conference finals appearance. While they might have trouble repeating that feat with the imminent departure of captain Mikko Koivu, they have a young and balanced roster and some cap room to fill in some holes for another Cup run.
The St. Louis Blues were basement-dwelling lottery fodder for years but finally made the playoffs for the first time in a decade last season... barely. They are possibly the youngest team in the league, with a star goalie (Vasilevski), forward (alternate universe non-bust Puljujarvi) and deep blue line (Dahlin, Valimaki and Juolevi). They'll have loads of cap room to try to snag a talented veteran scorer or two.

EHEC is set to start the 2020-21 regular season, so now is a perfect time to hop on board! We currently have three teams available:

The St. Louis Blues are on the list again and much as described in the last post. They have a strong young core and had some savvy UFA signings made by their interim GM, leaving them in good position to try for a playoff push or sell at the deadline if that fails.
The New Jersey Devils are in a similar position as the Blues. They made the playoffs last season and have a young roster with loads of mid-tier prospect depth and plenty of expiring contracts for cap flexibility, including some valuable veterans for a playoff push or deadline sell-off.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are yet another relatively young bubble team with middling results over the last few seasons. Unlike the Devils (but much like the real-life Jackets), they have a roster filled with physical skaters but lacking true top-line playmaking centers. Alex Newhook and Trevor Zegras are on their way, though.

The NHL is back, but EHEC never left! We're midway through our 2020-21 season and looking to fill some vacancies.

The St. Louis Blues are on the block again, and nobody knows why! They're a solid mix of quality youth and savvy veterans and currently 5th in the West - poised to take the next step with a wise trade or two.
The Columbus Blue Jackets are also still available. They too have some very good pieces but probably need a true star player and/or some fresh line strategies to get them out of the 8-12 range in the East.
The Arizona Coyotes are back on the block. They're a mostly veteran-laden team who have a long and storied history in EHEC and are currently just behind the Blues in the 6-8 seed range in the West. Having run into some cap trouble, they could use a deft hand to clear out overpaid underperformers and get them back to true playoff contender form.
The Florida Panthers are 2nd in the East and chock full of excellent players after having been a basement team for most of their history. They're evidently doing just fine with passive management, but if you're looking to go deep in the playoffs, sign yourself up before the trade deadline to push them over top.

Bumping this because we're through our draft, midway through free agency and heading close to preseason, so now's a great time to hop on board (not that there's never a bad time).

Arizona, Florida and New Jersey are all available; descriptions are available above and largely still accurate. All three teams have been under interim management and have reasonably balanced rosters that can be taken in any direction. Arizona & Florida both lost handily in the first round last season but have had success in the past and have enough talent to push for home ice advantage with a wise signing/trade or two. New Jersey has more of a younger, prospect-oriented lineup, with plenty of expiring contracts and future cap flexibility - an excellent choice for a quick rebuild.

EHEC is all geared up to start our annual free agent frenzy! Apply now and you'll get to spend millions of fake dollars on real (imaginary) hockey players, then pit them on the ice against crafty opponents! Openings include:

Arizona - a perennially unloved team in the most stacked division in the toughest conference in the league... it's a challenge, but they have excellent defensive players and just need some offense to try to sneak into a playoff spot (or build from the strong 2023 draft).

Boston - a rare availability of an original 6 team after their longtime GM stepped down for IRL commitments. Boston's got young talent including Sam Reinhart, Quinton Byfield and Bowen Byram, and also has the good fortune to be in the weak (l)eastern conference.

Montreal - An even rarer availability of the most popular team ever (boo, hiss), who also have come off two straight Cup Finals (one win, one game 7 OT loss). Set to lose old man Spezza to UFA, they still have a great roster including Ovechkin and Dach (we were first) and should easily clinch home ice in the playoffs again.

EHEC is once again looking to recruit a few new GMs. This time around, we're advertising the forthcoming start of our entry draft, which is easily the best class of the last decade. Any GM with a top 20 pick is bound to come away happy, and there are quality finds to be unearthed in the next 20-30 picks too. With the summer doldrums out of the way, free agency and preseason will follow so there's lots of action ahead before the regular season starts in October.

Check out the available teams and apply!
