I know he isn't our prospect but I figured you guys might find it interesting to follow Eetu's performance in college. Afterall, he is Anaheim royalty by association. :) Anyways, not much to report at the moment but I'll be sure to try my best to get to as many Northeastern games as possible this season and fill you guys in on how he's doing.

His last name probably gets him through college on a scholarship. Good for him I guess?

Not a good hockey player

That's not really fair. He's going to be playing Division 1 hockey.

Sure, he will probably never be an NHL player, but D1 hockey is no joke. Even if you aren't a star at that level, that's still serious hockey.

Surprised he made it as far as he has but good for him.

And I'll echo what Sojourn said. D1 hockey is legit hockey. To make it that far means he can play at a level 99% of hfboards posters could only dream of playing at.

I knew some guys that played with him in high school. They said he only got into a D1 school because of his last name.

I wouldn't doubt it. And Northeastern wants to sell tickets. He'll still be playing in Hockey East though so if he's not productive there's only so much Coach Madigan can do. He mightve been better off going to a less competitive division but I'm sure the Selanne family weighed their options and chose what they thought was the best place for him.

Teemu has even said that his middle son, Eemil is most like him as a player. Not sure if the youngest son is playing, I know he was playing lacrosse with a co-workers son a couple years ago. Good for Eetu, living up to that last name in hockey is not easy.

Eemil is the oldest son, he has already quit playing hockey. Eetu is the middle son, he's going to play for Northeastern. The youngest son, Leevi, is still playing. He actually had fairly respectable numbers in the USHS this season. Not good enough to get drafted to the CHL or the USHL though.
