Oilers trade Sam Gagner to Tampa Bay for Teddy Purcell.

Just gonna paste it here...

I'm... I'm shocked.

Yay? I like Purcell now as he's improved since his Kings days. Kind of a lateral move though.

Purcell is a 40+ point guy, BIG, RW...basically everything we're looking for as a second or third line RW. He can move between the top three lines no problem (which can help us shelter Yak if need be).

It was time for Gagner. This is a good move. I'm pleased, but I'm sure the internet will blow up.

I wish Sam nothing but the best. I still think he's going to have a long NHL career.

Welcome to Edmonton Teddy. We add a bit more size.

This is a very good trade for you guys. Congrats, and props to MacT for finding a suitor for Gagner.

Purcell makes no sense to me. He's bigger but Charmin soft. And we add another winger bumping Yakupov back to the 3rd or 4th line again. Similar cap hit. I guess we get one year less term is about the only positive I got.

Yay the Oilers could never take a big step forward with Gagner as their #2 center. Big winger is solid return I think...hopefully we find someone to play center though...

"hey guys, I think they'll just have to buyout Gagner, because he's worthless. I mean maybe a 3rd and 4th at most guys"

Great deal.

Bigger winger that does not play physical ....good skill should put up 45-55 pts...questionable work ethic and defensive awareness......but can be a difference maker when he wants to

Idk anything about Purcell. Good trade?

Tampa fan here. He was absolutely god awful for the last 2 seasons He's soft dosent work hard can't win a board battle to save his life obviously avoided contact. Dragged down every line he was on yet still continued to receive top 6 mins and pp time. Year before he was great but it's looked like he's cashed it in after getting a big contract. What's ganger like I don't think we will keep him.

I hope he succeeds nice enough guy. At his best he's a beast at zone entry's and has a great shot.

Don't know what to make of that..

I guess they fully expect Leon to make the team?

A bigger RW makes more sense for the Oilers than a smaller C. Lateral production, lateral salary wise. It addresses a hole at the same money and gives us more RW depth if Yakupov isn't ready for 2RW (I still think he gets first shot at that spot).

The player has problems, but so does Gagner.

So what's next. 2/3C, 3LW and RHD D?
