To TB:

Russell 50%retained 2mil x 1 year
Chiasson 2.1 mil x 1 year
Samorukov

To Edm:
Killorn 4.45mil x 3 years
Schenn 0.8 mil x 1 year

Tampa gets over 1 million in cap space this year and two expiring contracts being a serviceable bottom pairing d man and a 15 - 20 goal guy in Chiasson, and one of the Oils top D prospects and Edmonton gets a winger for McD and a 7th d man.... and this works for Edmonton cap wise with Klefbom on LTIR

Makes zero sense for Tampa. If they have to move Killorn it's not going to be for $1m in cap space.

Doesn't really make sense for either team. Edmonton has to resign Yamamoto and Hopkins next year, Killorn's cap hit isn't going to make that any easier.

would be stupid there will be a team that will take killorn for just a draft pick say a 3rd or 4th rounder then we gain 4.45 million in cap space

bolts say no.

lol @ oilers fans thinking they are gonna downgrade massively from killorn to chiasson for 1mil cap space with nothing else coming back

Killorn for a pick/prospect frees up nearly 4.5

Are you kidding. Killorn's contract has term left. The two guys we're sending their way are expiring and far easier to move.

Tampa isn’t saving much cap space. It’s better for them to move Killorn without taking salary back. The proposal isn’t a great one for Tampa because they need as much cap space as they can get. Killorn and Johnson should be traded for picks if possible.

If it was possible to move anyone without taking money back, it would've happened by now in all likelihood. The fact that TJ passed through waivers should make it pretty clear you're not getting picks back for these assets.

Put yourself in the shoes of a rival GM. Why would they provide any kind of positive return to rid the Lightning of millions of dollars of committed salary? It's going to cost them something they don't want to give up to get all those guys under contract.

Tampa isn't the team to want Russell. Russell's value is in his salary, not his cap hit. Find a cash poor team. Trade him for a 2 million dollar player. We save cap, the other team saves cash.

With Klefbom out, I am guessing that Russell stays an Oiler.

the number of teams with the required cap space gets smaller every day. tampa soon has to attach picks to get rid of killorn.

johnson passed waiver unclaimed. no one will return a pick for his service unless tampa heavily retains.

Uh might want to read the proposal again their ace, clearly you missed something.

Them trading killorn and his $4.55 million cap. Them receiving Russell half retained and chiason for a total of $4.1 million.
A decent prospect. Schenn can be waived or play the 7th dman for the lightning.
So two cap dumps for a productive player.

Read it fine ace.

Go on cap-friendly and you can list the teams with the necessary cap, no pending rfa to sign. People think teams still have space but once the remaining teams lock up their own RFA plus the teams already cap out like 6 teams remain with the needed space for what you suggest and of those clubs, Ottawa, NJ, Detroit. These clubs aren’t contenders, they don’t need to grab a player off Tampa without a sweetener to do so. Any contender who would add a Killorn don’t have the space needed.

Even posters suggesting an oil deal miss the point that we still have to sign Bear and have enough cap to fill out a 23 man roster. People just don’t look deep enough.

Add the fact that the remaining UFA class will have to start accepting under market 1-2 year deals or find themselves completely left without an nhl contract there’s literally no reason for any club to help Tampa at this point unless it’s something like a hockey futures trade for one of their coveted RFA like Sergechev.

No sense for the Bolts, could trade Killorn for an asset and get rid of the entire salary

That train has likely left the station. Which team do you suggest should give said asset. Wouldn’t mind hearing actual options as most teams couldn’t do this even if they wanted too. About the only team that comes to mind is Detroit and if that’s the case get on it and grab whatever you can.
