In 1 season Chia added Lucic, Maroon and Kassian up front. We will not be a team to be run out of the rink easily in terms of physical play anymore. It will be a very different thing for Oilers fans to be the hammer more nights than the nail after years of us being beaten to a pulp in terms of the physical side of things. Add in Larsson and Puljujarvi and as a whole we are a LOT bigger team than we've been in a long time.

I sometimes forget about Puljujarvi because of all of the roster change, I'm hoping that he comes in and is a highly impactful rookie, if he is we will have one hell of a forward group even after dealing Hall.

I agree....and regardless of the length of the term of Lucic's contract, for at least the next few years, the Oilers have a beauty of a player which is exactly what they needed.....they are not far from the playoffs now....perhaps this year even!

Chia actually added some toughness that can play, finally! The previous management failed miserably trying to address the toughness, they kept adding 4 line goons to protect the stars, guys like McIntyre, Hordichuk and Gazdic. Guys that play less than 5 mins a night, fight other goons and never see the ice at the same time as the kids. Now in Maroon, Kassian and Lucic they have toughness that can actually play in the top 9

He's a skilled guy, so even in his late years he will find a way to be effective just like Doan did. As long as he can park himself in the slot and fight for territory he can get some garbage goals. He'll be a grizzled veteran and a good leader.

And of course, there's always options. His NTC loosens up in the final years of the deal, and btw he'll only be 35 when it's over so it's very possible he'll still be a decent player by the end of it. Also, in 7 years the cap could be a whole lot higher. If it ends up like a 4-5 million cap hit equivalent at the end it will be okay

Kassian cost nothing, Maroon cost nothing. Small moves like this could help the team a lot. Previous management always tried to hit the home run when trying to improve team toughness.
