I know it’s a long shot, but it made me wonder what would EDM have to offer to get the 1OA pick from BUF.

I would think it’s going to have to be a massive overpayment.

10OA, 2019 1st round pick, highly regarded prospect PLUS top 6 roster player??

Well, one, the post you linked has nothing to do with #1 overall, it’s about pursuing Ristolainen.

Two, Buffalo would be absolutely right to demand a stupid overpayment that Edmonton would be out of its mind to pay.

Its pretty simple. Aside from McDavid, Edmonton does not have a piece worth the 1st overall pick. Having said that, the 1st overall pick isn't even in the same ballpark as McDavid value wise.
