I think we are going to give the Pens a better show than a lot of people here are giving us credit for. Yes, I know we are all a bit on edge after the Leafs but let's not forget most people had us doing it in 5 or so games and 6 isn't too bad, plus we had three straight wins.

We are battletested now, hopefully we bring our A game on Thursday and put the pedal down.

Best of luck Caps fans. I think we're going to have to get very lucky to even make it close against you guys, I can see us getting caved in with scoring chances and Holtby >> Fleury.

Hey. You don't get to doubt your team, only we do. You guys have literally owned us during the playoffs over the last 3 decades.

Sucks we have to play you guys without Letang. Hoping for at least a good series, but I could see you guys just blowing Fleury up with the way our defense played last series.

Also Ovie and Oshie are at least guaranteed a goal per game with MAF in net.

Hope springs eternal...

...until it doesn't.

I'm gonna go in for one last go round and predict the Caps in 6. Because there's no way in hell we're winning a game 7 haha.

Need to take full advantage if Fleury is in net.

Top-6 needs to be play straight away too. Not that confident with the bottom-6 again. 4th line looks beyond useless, and i'll be shocked if Eller or Wilson score more than goal or two in this series. Burakovsky has been snakebitten (again) so he's going to need to generate the offense for that line.

Expecting Shattenkirk too to be much better in this series. He went full Yandle -mode in the Leafs series and didn't handle the physical play that well at all. Penguins are one of the softer teams that rely on speed though so that won't be a factor anymore.

Probably too much of a gamble but I would go with these lines. Every round except for the 4th line would have at least couple of players who scored in the first round.

1. Burakovsky-Bäckström-Williams
Orlov-Niskanen

2. Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Oshie
Schmidt-Shattenkirk

3. Johansson-Eller-Wilson
Orpik-Carlson

4. Winnik-Beagle-Connolly

This series could look like the Toronto one. Pittsburgh to score a lot of goals, and there will be games we need to score 4 or 5 to get a result, but over the course of the series we might take control more as their D gets shaky. Without Letang banking 28 mins a game, I'm reasonably confident we should be able to wear them down

Carlson has redeemed himself in my eyes.

We now have two pairings that work well as opposed to one.

We need to proactively bench Orpik because I just know he's going to push a Penguin into Holtby resulting in a goal.

Except Alzner looks to be worse than his rookie year...

Crazy but what about Chorney? His speed will be useful against the Pens.

Wasn't Orpik assigned to shutdown Malkin last year? Whose job will it be this year, if not him. Or, will we even try to match against him.

I wonder how Oshie was. After taking off his skate. Seeing him in the handshake line, I would expect nothing less from him.

With Malkin and Hornqvist they are going to need Orpik. Kuznetsov and Shattenkirk are the difference makers. I thought Kuzy did a solid job skating against Matthews most of the series. I doubt we will see that kind of assignment v Pittsburgh.

Shattenkirk. The difference in impact between Schmidt and Shattenkirk has been really noticeable. Beyond the PP, ive seen very little. I don't see a first pair defenseman there.

I dont think anyone has ever said he is a first pairing guy. He's a PP specialist who can play in a first pairing role if absolutely needed.

You mean here or main boards?

Because before his trade majority of the main boards were saying how he's a top-pairing D playing behind another top-pairing D in the depth chart (Pietrangelo).
