Are you surprised that PR people put a spin on the situation?

You can always rely on anonymous, definitely real threats to turn a narrative around.

You’re right. It’s totally a false flag situation. You cracked the code. There’s certainly zero chance sports fans overreacted to a loss and took that anger out in stupid and harmful ways. Never happened before.

I'm curious as to why the Islanders started Varlamov over Sorokin in games 1 & 2
Because he had been extremely hot late in the year but the problem with that when many teams do it is much like Varlamov here, that goalie won't play final game if it does not matter. So next you know he has 3-4-5 days off and he gets cold and the other guy who is the better goalie might be your safer bet at that stage anyhow

Agree. I deleted my account about 6 months ago. It sucks trying to keep up with hockey insiders, but I'm fine with it. Everyone posts stuff here from twitter anyhow.

My life has improved significantly after deleting Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook. I knew they were bad for mental health, but was still surprised at how much of an impact it made.

As folks have said, he had the hot hand. But I think there's more to it. The Hurricanes game play into Sorokin's relative weaknesses. He's not as great at fighting through screens, and he lacks confidence handling the puck. I mean Varlamov is probably at best an average puck handler, but Sorokin if not worse is much more passive.

But imo it has made/will make no difference. The reason to switch goalies now is shell shock.

As for twitter... it died for me a long time ago. Even before the sale actually 'went through' (but after it was announced) it was well on its way to becoming a zombie..

It never fails to amaze how Zen and cerebral sports fan(atic)s are. That's why we commonly describe some as being "rabid" in the same manner we refer to those rabid Quakers or a super-chill dude as being "rabidly philosophical" about things.

Only rabid sheeple don't understand that life is just layers of overlapping false flag ops.

Since we are talking about everything the Isles fans have said or done, why dont we also bring up the Canes fans who posted pictures of the 9/11 World Trade Center attack? I would say that is pretty sick too, no?

Awful taste? Absolutely shitty person? No doubt. Reposting history however is not the same as making death threats to a living person.

Sorry I think making light of an event where thousands of people died is at least as bad as making almost certainly bullshit "death threats" to one person.

Those twitter threats were more devastating then what James Reimer’s wife received during his Leafs tenure.

Why would any Islanders fan be mad? This series was pretty much over the second it was announced. At least they made the playoffs so be happy

It's definitely curious. Varly hasn't exactly been an issue for the team this series, but then you go with Sorokin and tonight happens. And again, despite what ESPN kept saying I'm not sure you can really blame him for any of the goals tonight. The first was tipped by his own man in front of the net, and the last 2 were completely screened. Tough to pull him, but I get it if you want to kick the team in the pants, it's worked for the Canes in the past.

is 9 save freddy back in net tonight?

Just a few more. Had a couple nice ones, hope you are enjoyed them.

You could easily argue the Isles have been the better team in 2 of the 3 games and were leading 3-0 in the game they got badly outplayed. Carolina has gotten every break. The series should be at worst 2-1 Canes and could easily be 2-1 Isles.

You could not easily argue that the Islanders are even close to the Canes in terms of having better players, so that's kinda what happens.
