Here's my take on the (over)reaction by Nelson. Guentzel blows by him, pissing him off. Gives him a couple of slashes trying to make him miss but mostly out of frustration. Guentzel, pumped, fires it extra hard into the net. This causes Nelson to take an even bigger slash at Guentzel whereby he to turns to yell "woooh!" (or F-you?) into Nelson's face. Then Nelson (and Palmieri) really lose it.

Like I said, lame. Not sure what that proves other than being sore losers. Maybe there was something in-game between Guentzel and Palmieri/Nelson? Maybe the stick getting stuck in Varlamov's mask? Dunno...

Seems pretty clear Guentzel is shouting/saying 'wooooo' after scoring and not 'F---- You'.... and like, he's allowed to do that. He just scored the likely game clinching goal. He doesn't do it TO Nelson... Nelson is trailing him and right over his shoulder. He's looking to start shit. There's no reason for him to be trailing Jake over to the boards and up towards the blueline after the goal is scored.

I think the assertion that he 'pumped, fires it extra hard into the net' is a bit much and not really accurate. Did he slide it in? No. But it certainly isn't anything over the top. If Nelson can't control himself over that then he needs to go into therapy.

Should win 4 before you start to flex.
Should win 1 before policing the tone of people's posts though.

I haven't followed the islanders. Why exactly is varlamov playing? He looked very dopey
Agreed. He was terrible last night. He also got very little help.

I think Islanders should give Sorokin the start next game.

You're clearly looking for an argument.

Pass.

I'm not looking for anything. I see posts that I disagree with so I commenting/correcting.

What difference is it how cocky a Canes fan (or any other fan for that matter) may be after 1,2,3 games?

Why do you get to tell people how they can or can't post? Canes have won the first two games. The fans have the right to show their enthusiasm towards that. Don't like it, then your team should win some games. That's the fastest and most effective way to have opposing fans to stop flexing, as you put it.

Maybe Roy would do better in the crease. Maybe Varly or Sorokin can come up with better coaching strategies than him as well.

He really didn’t fire it extra hard, he just took a regular shot rather than sliding it in.

Why would he do that? Probably because Nelson was hot on his tail and had his stick all over him, so there was no time or space to be casual about it.

The overthinking of this whole thing is wild. We’ve seen a hundred players lose their cool in the agony of defeat, this was just another one on the list.

100%... he's getting slashed. You're not going to slide the puck in the net, you're going to shoot it to make sure it doesn't get stripped away.

Had he slid it in the net instead, I'm sure Isles fans would view that as some form of disrespect that was worthy of Nelson and Palmieri being goon faced idiots.

'What? You're too good to shoot it in the net? That would be beneath you? How about I cross check you in the face now!'

Isn't that what you're doing to me? lol

I wasn't even engaging with you (I was replying to other posters).

You can post however you want, but why are you telling Canes fans not to flex if that's what they want to do after winning 2 games? Best way to stop that flexing is by winning some games of your own.

Nothing official but the speculation is centered around an ACL/MCL injury. At this point the operating assumption is that DeAngelo will take his place for the foreseeable future.
With how strong the Orlov-Chatfield pairing was and the minutes they showed they are capable of playing I wonder if that slides up to the 'second pair' and then Skjei babysits TDA as the 3rd pair.

I think that’s a reasonable approach. On the road, I don’t think Rod will get too caught up in line matching. Just roll the D pairs evenly and don’t do anything silly like having TDA on the ice in a clear defensive situation.

Just think it's premature to be digging up week old prediction posts and quoting them with "I told you so" comments. Series isn't over.

Canes have gone up 2-0 in 5 of the 7 series with home ice under Rod. They’ve lost Game 3 on the road all 5 times. They’re going to get a season on the line push from the Isles. Maybe this is the series they overcome it.
Canes technically beat the Rangers in game 3 in 2020 with the Rangers being the home team

But im just being a turd. Obviously that wasn’t the intention here

Lot of hockey left to play. Two day break is a blessing for the Isles - should be a good chance to reset and let them create some mental distance from last night's debacle.

My prediction: I think Isles take care of business at home and this thread is singing a different tune come Sunday with a 2-2 series tie.

I try not to gloat much, and until recently I thought the isles were a respectable group. They do work hard, but last night was just a little too much goonery and I'm over the assertion that somehow the Canes don't belong etc.

I've had it canes in 5 all along. I still do. Do the islanders win both at home? Maybe. We have made some dumb ass mistakes in the last couple games and came out slow in game 1. Game 1 was basically a 1 goal win, and last night was .... well, I mean we did outplay them for basically 40 mins.

Were there fans actually claiming the Canes don't belong here? That's dumb. They're one of the best teams in the league and got even better at the deadline. Legit cup contender.
