Great post.

I tell people all the time that what Boston endured between 1986 and 2001 was more than enough payment for what we’re enjoying today.

For example...

Len Bias.
Reggie Lewis.
Lisa Olson.
Game 6.
The Patriots thisclose to moving.
Losing to the Oilers. Twice.
Losing to the Penguins. Twice.
The Red Sox being the Red Sox.
The Rick Pitino years.
Not getting Tim Duncan.
Super Bowl XXXI.
The Tuna going to the Jets.
The Fellowship of the Miserable.
Loserville.

I remember ALL of it. If I missed anything, I assure you it’s because I’m pressed for time.

Nobody with four major sports teams ever had a worse 15 year span across the board.
The answer is BUFFALO. The 2000's for Buffalo are far worse than anything I'd wish to endure. And it continues...

My Dad asked why Carolina didn't do anything.... I explained that it was like a boa consticter, just squeezing the ever loving life out of them until they were dead.
As the sage Canadian philosopher Dave "Tiger" Williams once was quoted as saying "They're Done like Dinner"! (Of course playing for the Leafs, the Flyers came back to win four straight in '77 to win series after Tiger's proclamation).

As someone who lived through the down years of 1987-2001, I love the run this city is on and will never take it for granted as it could be over in the blink of an eye.

The majority of Boston fans remember the dark times and the cockiness comes from the youngins who were born after 2001.

I started watching during the 97-98 season when they drafted Thornton and Samsonov (my two favourites along with Bergeron growing up). 1999-2002; 2005-07 were pretty rough but I've been a spoiled fan for the most part. Still can't believe I watched Bergeron play his first game when I was 12. Fifteen years later and he's only getting better.

Very impressed with the way the B's D squad played without Chara last night. Moore just stepped in and did a solid job. Grizz and McAvoy were just fine. Very mobile squad. Bodes well for the post-Chara years.

That said, it would be nice to have another Top 4 with size and mobility. Miller brings some snarl, and his skating is actually quite good, but I'd like one more bigger body to play on a higher pairing, like a Carlo, to handle the bigger forwards of the league.

Can we just clone Carlo?

Maple Leaf fan coming, not just in peace but appreciation.

I was the best friend of a former Leaf GM, got to sit beside him for almost every game and heck as we jockingly used to say, he was the ass kisser, and I was the guy who actually understood hockey.

Everyone in LeafNation is upset about Babcock, the team, blah blah blah. I told them, we went seven games with the best team in the NHL.

Gotta say thanks to the Bruins for making me look good on that statement.

Any team with Cam Neely in background and having Bobby fuggin Orr waving flags , and with two of the best players in NHL history(Bergeron and Marchand) on the first line, well pffftttt.

Its a no brainer.

Anyways kick some serious ass in the finals guys. Great city to visit, great team...

I just wish my favourite NHL personality, Milt Schmidt was here to enjoy it, but I am sure Jesus has him hooked up to watch every game on HD(Heaven Delivery) ha.

‘Hopefully that’s a good sign’: The Bruins won Thursday, then a bear showed up in Arlington

Is it a furry sign sent from the hockey gods?

Some people are hoping that a stray bear’s appearance in Arlington early Friday morning was a good omen for the Boston Bruins, who advanced to the Stanley Cup Final after sweeping the Carolina Hurricanes in the playoffs Thursday night.

The bear was spotted roaming around town before it ended up in a tree on Osceala Path, in a neighborhood bordering Winchester. Officials armed with tranquilizer guns eventually surrounded the animal and shot it with a dart. The bear then climbed down from its perch, where it was captured and escorted away, bound for western Massachusetts.

“If you want [a] good omen that the Bruins are going to win the cup this appears in the neighborhood this morning not far from Coach Cassidy’s House,” tweeted Arlington High School hockey coach John Messuri. “First bear I can remember in Arlington/Winchester.”

About a month ago it was reported to be in West Medford and residents there have been keeping an eye open for it.

When Gord Kluzak in the 80's started to wear #6 I thought right away dude is going to have something bad coming his way.
How many knee surgeries later?
Something about that number.

The year of his draft the knee was operated on . The year before (IIRC) the other knee was operated on. Also IIRC he first wore number 19, or was that Thornton?

Donny has done a masterful job retooling that D. Lauzon and vak waiting to start. We have Clifton Carlo and mcavoy locked in their spots for years.

With Torey and Matt still in the fold for another year (barring a trade), how long do you think it will take before Lauzon & Vak can become inserted into the lineup? And then, there is still Zboril.
