Ooof - I haven't updated that in FOREVER. I plan on doing a complete database overhaul soon (well, I've started actually) but it's going to take months to complete.

Best bet is for somebody to take the newest Pivot rosters and adjust the NHL and AHL for Seattle and Palm Springs to be added...if somebody wants to do that and use my 32 team NHL structure as a guide (simply open both databases in separate editor instances and adjust NHL settings and structure and export/import schedule templates in Pivot to match the NHL32 database) - they are free to use my old NHL32 as a guide for that. Or maybe @xECK29x has already done a version like this, I haven't followed this thread in a long time so not sure if there is a 32-team Pivot roster floating around or not.

I can supply Seattle Kraken color and logos and Palm Springs (placeholder) info and logos if needed to match dani9's logo format.

I’ll likely include a variant of both TBL and Pivot with blank Seattle/Palm Springs/another ECHL team.

Can’t wait for Riz new patch to come out. Been holding off new game until then. Will prolly still hold off until Covid Cup is done and new roster update for 2021 post draft.

I bought FHM to get my fix and I was really impressed with a lot of them cool features, but for whatever reason still can’t hold a candle to EHM. I really wish EHM was yearly release would easily fork over $20-40 instead of $60 for crappy EA Sports game.

Sorry if posted already, but why WJC's final game is on January 9th, while is supposed to be on January 5th ?

Probably because it isn't worth it for SI to release a yearly new base game. Most people wouldn't continuously buy it since the "improvements" likely aren't worth the money. Hockey is a very niche sport and there aren't a lot of people buying hockey video games (as compared to NFL or FIFA games), so SI likely wouldn't see a profit with yearly releases (if it did, they would do it, as they do it with FM, which is their priority)

If EA NHL can survive year after year with product one worse than another, then I wouldn't have any fear for EHM yearly release. Too bad SI doesn't care too much.

EA is a huge company, and they have an exclusive deal with the NHL to release games, so they have to do it. SI does not have the cash that EA does

But base EHM doesn't have rights to the NHLPA correct? EA is a big flashy game that has all the star power and marketing.

I want to agree with you Deadpool, but I just am not so sure. I mentioned it in the EHM thread prior. SI just doesn't care/pushes for anything about this game. Miles J (head of SI - who I find is an arrogant knob) always says that "more people should have bought the game" via Twitter many times. Steam data shows that more people have played EHM moreso than FHM - but yet OOTP releases a new version of the game each year? I think Football Manager outperforms OOTP's baseball series all of the time in sales.

But base EHM doesn't have rights to the NHLPA correct? EA is a big flashy game that has all the star power and marketing.

If EHM had sold more copies, SI would've been able to get licenses for various leagues. It never turned out into fruition. As a side note, how many copies did they want to sell before they moved forward into doing licenses, new games, and advertising?

OOTP release a new FHM every year for the same niche as EHM. If it works for OOTP, it would most likely work for SI.

Any chance in future updates that you'll have more control over other personnel? Such as Director of Personnel, President, etc. They don't have contracts and they never get fired, do they? Would also be cool if GMs had actual contracts as well, like in FM where they offer you a salary

@archibalduk - is it possible to import EHM 2004 DB into EHM 1 ? :)

Kind of. The game will only import EHM 2007 format databases into EHM 1 format. There are two obstacles/steps when trying to import an EHM 2004 database:

1) You need to convert the EHM 2004 DB into EHM 2007 format. The game can't do this but my Editor can. You simply open the EHM 2004 DB in the Editor and then click on File -> Save As -> Save as EHM 2007 DB.

2) The import function in the game expects to see various of the database tables in a particular order and with certain entries present (i.e. in the same order/data as the original EHM 2007 DB). For example, it expects certain leagues to have certain league IDs in the database - e.g. the NHL must be the first item in the leagues table. Similarly, the number of nations must also be the correct number too. This is a challenge for a few reasons: (A) the database grew significantly in size between EHM 2004 and EHM 2005 and again between EHM 2005 and EHM 2007. IIRC the EHM 2004 DB only has a few thousand players/staff whereas the EHM 2007 DB has around 30,000 players/staff. As a consequence, a lot of the tables are in a very different order compared with the EHM 2007 DB; (B) There were actually fewer nations in the EHM 2004 DB compared with EHM 2007 because EHM 2004 pre-dates Serbia and Montenegro splitting into separate nations (in 2006); (C) Various additional data was added - such as extra injuries and colours which are not present in EHM 2004.

I have been working on creating a conversion function for EHM 2004 in order to re-order the tables and to populate missing nation/injury/colour/etc data so that it matches the EHM 2007 format. The EHM 2005 conversion works perfectly but the EHM 2004 conversion still needs a bit of work (it can be hard to identify some of the differences). I test the conversion process by trying to get the DB to load in EHM 2007 as I think this is a stricter test then using EHM 1.

Anyhow, this is a really long-winded way of saying that these are the steps:

1) Load the EHM 2004 DB in the Editor;
2) Click on Tools -> Converter -> EHM 2004 to EHM 2007;
3) Click on File -> Save As -> Save as EHM 2007 DB and save your database in a new sub-folder of your EHM 1 database folder;
4) Follow the instructions here: Importing EHM 2007 Databases into EHM:EA - EHM The Blue Line Wiki

As I say above, the converter isn't 100% complete, so I cannot guarantee that the import process will be 100% error-free. Even if there are errors, you still *might* be able to create a new game in EHM 1 with limited playable leagues. So it's worth a try.

Looks like I have a release candidate for the first version of V5 for the 2020-21 season. Need to set some expectations though:

Known Issues:
-Due to extra_config issues from last year I have made the decision to greatly reduce the extra_config data to the maximum I can add with the database being stable, this removes a lot of real-life detail from the sim, there is nothing I can do about this until the 1.5 EHM patch is released.
--Any injury, contract extension, draft pick change or future retirement involving the Vegas Golden Knights CANNOT be added.
--NCAA and European future transfers CANNOT BE ADDED, this means real-life NCAA transfers WILL NOT EXIST in the DB at this current time, these players will still have the preference of playing for College clubs however.
--Some European arena moves CANNOT BE ADDED (some KHL and NLA arena transfers).
--CHL draft pick changes CANNOT BE ADDED without crashing, just too many to process across all three major junior leagues

I am still considering adding a Seattle/Palm Springs variant (just empty teams besides staff for both), but I want to wait until this RC is out the door and we don't have any major issues, will likely start including Seattle closer to when I will release the first TBL (around the start of the NHL season in December).

These issues do NOT exist with 1.5 and we can add all this detail back in once that is released to the public, I do not have a time frame on that as Riz is back to major FM development sprints.

I AM IN NEED OF TESTERS, PLEASE PM ME IF YOU CAN HELP TEST!!!

Incredible work as always. The fact that this is in RC form in early September is remarkable.

FYI the json patch is about 75% complete and I'll have that done well in advance of December. In fact it would have been ready now if it hadn't have been for those pesky website issues. I'm spending the weekend working on the various issues/requests you raised on the Editor and then I'll get back to work on the json patcher.

Comparison between two saves (same DB) part 2:
Detroit Save
Most points past #31 in 2038

2024 - 761 (38) 255 (34)
2025 - 244 (40) 232 (49)
2026 - 528 (34) 339 (50)
2027 - 427 (45) 258 (52)
2028 - 265 (36) 187 (46) 10 years post draft

Montreal save
Most points past #31 in 2037
2020 - 1124 (32) 856 (66) 17 years post draft
2021 - 910 (106) 765 (122)

2030 - 217 (39) 202(32)
2031 - 155(96) 131 (59)
2032 - 231 (95) 198 (39) 5 years post draft
2033 - 99 (35) 98 (89)

Interesting how the 2nd save has more late picks steals. Also 2025 definitely went better for it, although 2028 also sucked. The 2023 stud was a 19 years old that played in the LHJQ during his first draft year so he passed under the radar. 868 points in 891 games for Anaheim and STL.

@archibalduk ; at TBL retro roster download section in opening post of 1998. DB writes following;

For the best “retro experience at this time” it is recommended at startup
  • enable Fog of War
  • select/check "Disable All Extra Staff
  • select/check "Disable All Extra Players
  • select/check Retain All Teams
Does it mean I should enable this or leave it disabled as it is by default ?

By default (unchecked) those items are ENABLED, you will want to DISABLE them by checking them.

Do young players get randomly assigned to teams in 1998. DB ? In my save Henrik Lundqvist is playing for Timra J20 instead of his RL club which was Frolunda J20.

Crack it open in the editor and take a look :). I believe the real life players are set in the DB to generate only their real life junior teams but the AI will do what it wants.
