What defensemen are bringing it and showing that they aren't worth of this year's Norris trophy?

    Top scoring D so far:
    Reilly
    Burns
    Chabot

Giordano has 15 pts in 14 games, is a plus 10, and has a 58.1% CF%. He keeps this up, he better win it.

When it's this early, you should still have a bunch of guys on the "favourites" list, just on reputation. Hedman, Burns, Doughty, Karlsson, should all be considered among the favourites until either they play themselves out of contention, or we pass the mid point of the season.

He'll re-enter the race at some point because the Kings won't be a 30 point team, but all situations, playing half the game:

When Drew Doughty is on the ice (including PK), 14 of the Kings 24 goals for, 15 of the 44 against. 48% GF%.

Drew Doughty off ice: 10 goals for, 29 goals against. 25% GF%.

    Yes, it's that bad.

Another vote for Gio, an absolute workhorse both ends of the ice.

Not really great with him on the ice either, it's just phenomenally bad without him haha

I said in the Giordano thread a week or two back: he should already have a few Norris nominations. For me, the top-5 defensemen in the NHL are Karlsson, Doughty, Giordano, Subban, and Hedman, probably in that order, but I wouldn't argue with differing orders for 2-5.

Before the TO game, he hadn't been on the ice for a goal against, then he went full Doughty and blew up that game and struggled for a couple more

he's back, but the damage is done. And yeah, like historically bad without him on, he's keeping Stevens employed.

They're terrible but he's literally the only d-man keeping things respectable. Him and Martinez and Muzzin are the only ones with a decent CF% and only Drew is handling HD stuff well--even his usual partner is drowning showing how baaaaad this team is without him.

Awards should be honored by merit alone regardless of reputation.

I didn't say "give the award based on reputation," now did I?

You suggested that some players be considered until they play themselves out, nobody should be considered until they play themselves in.

Read it again. I chose my words carefully, and I said no such thing. You're assuming I meant something, when I explicitly went out of my way to add a caveat to avoid it.
