Early look at 2020 QMJHL draft so far

There are some good prospects outside Halifax/NS I think. Although he is from south shore NS, I would add Ryan Hopkins as a potential first rounder. Will be interesting to see how he progresses this year at Stanstead playing against mostly bigger kids in a faster environment. In NB Samuel Savoie with Moncton is skilled and should be in top 3 rounds I would guess, although the NBPEIMMHL does not seem as strong this year compared to last year so it is hard to gage the players in that league right now. It is early in the season though so hopefully play will pick up. Also RNS has Oliver, who I really like and flies a bit under the radar being in the prep school circuit. I'm curious about NFLD .....anyone have insight on good prospects there?

It is VERY early and things change a lot as the season goes on but I have been piecing together a list of a dozen players For a while now that I think are leading the way at the moment for 2020 draft.
T Luneau is ahead of the pack right now and deservedly so. He’s a ridiculous skater and puck mover with elite vision and anticipation. I thought he stood up to even the couple best Ontario D (2003) at Canada Games last Feb.
Beyond Luneau, I won’t even attempt at this early stage to rank them and I’m leaving off some very talented kids and this all will likely change but here goes .....
- T Luneau
And the rest in no particular order yet
- D Goyette
- M Lastarza
- J Swann
- M Vidicek
- C MacLean
- M Mastrodomenico
- L Carruthers
- N Warren
- A Verreault
- R Hopkins
- J Cote
* there may be a goalie in the top dozen but I have no confidence with commenting on goalies.
* I have not been able to watch Quebec based players in person as regularly as Atlantic kids.

Can Scoutman or anyone else confirm whether Goyette is QMJHL territory? I understand that he played in Eastern Ontario for a bit (same team as Lamoureux who is now back in Quebec) so would the rules still make him eligible for the QMJHL draft?

Goyette is OHL and Ontario citizen since 2-3 years
Lamoureux is Q, home adress is in Québec, this is why he was eligible for U16.

Thanks for that clarification. I find it confusing who does and doesn’t remain eligible for Q when they move to Ontario. Thanks

Interesting to see 2 NL kids on your list. They need to have big tounrys when the go to the Monctonian and Ice Jan to really prove them selves. Your top 5 are down right dominate but i am not sure of Goyettes territory. Justin Côté can be a serious sleeper in this years draft. Swan drop because of injury? And how is LaStarza doing for him to drop or is he eyeing NCAA?

Did he start to play? I saw that he was in the line up for one game (Oct. 4th) but he didn't play after that...

This is NOT a top 10 list, this is from Andre Ouellet and it's a bunch of name to Watch, not his top 10.

Verreault #13?? You're kidding right?
And Justin Côté will be a 1st R, probably top 10

Beauregard is there 2 times

I think people regurgitate old lists (scoutman1) and others take lists out of context (top 10) which are profiling a few players and NOT ALL that will rise to the forefront in June.
Enjoy the rest of the season.

kidding...when your 5'05 things can be a little sketchy...this is my list of who I like, Verreault is an amazing talent, but at 5'05 I have seen too many amazing talents at that size just be decent talents at the next level and if you think teams do not look at that come draft day then you are fooling yourself...maybe a team will look past the real small size on both Cote and Verreault and take them high, but this is my list of players I like so im not worried about having them low because of things I do not like.

Well, I understood that when I see Charbonneau #4 and Verreault #13.

But you're right, it's your opinion, and I respect that.
Robidas is 5'7" but he was stronger (physically) than Verreault is at the same age
Every step, it's a concern for Verreault (PW to Bantam, Bantam to Midget). But everytime, he still awesome. So I'm not really worried (well, at least for the junior. After it's something different)
