Criminally underrated most of his career.

He will always be Capt. Crunch to me.

He has been my #2 favorite player under Matt Greene.

TBH anyone would have said yes to the deal they gave him/. As a PWF, you're more likely to regress earlier than other players - which he did before rebounding a couple years ago.

Became a big D-Brown fan myself during the 2011-2014 stretch for the Kings. Saw a lot more of him due playoffs + Hawks facing the Kings in the spring. Really admired his game and leadership; he was dynamite during those deep playoff runs.

Pretty amazing when you consider people have been saying he’s washed up for at least the last 5 years.

it's remarkable how he was able to turn his career around after his terrible stretch from 13/14 - 16/17, i don't think there's been another player who reached a new career high in pts after being on a heavy decline for 4 seasons

I don't think it's accurate to say he was on the heavy decline. He was a good bottom 6 player during most of that time. Not great, but he was a serviceable player.

I wish I could link his interviews, but Brown said he had to identify not only problems with how he approached the off season, but the game itself. One year, he started working out and eating right to get his body back in shape, but that wasn't enough because he still played the game in a way that was no longer viable, so he said he started watching a lot of video of younger players and stars and trying to learn from their innovation to revive his own game.

Dustin Brown’s kid being his biggest critic should be credited with his turnaround.

This poor guy probably thought he came up with something clever as he clicked on the ‘Post Reply’ button.

He's not the fastest guy out there, but Brown's combo of high hockey IQ, motor, and longtime chemistry with Kopitar have kept him well above water even as he enters his late-30's. He's also a beast in front of the net on the PP. Tremendous start to the season for him.

Ziggy did actually invent that one, back in 2002 in a thread comparing Hakan Loob and Ron Tugnutt. He gets royalties every time you mention it so keep it going.

Certainly one of the strangest NHL career turnarounds ever, especially for a player with his style of play.

For years the worst contract in the league, on this site, which was already debatable but yes it was a tad too much. At that time a decent bottom six player, perhaps still is, but of course washed up here because it always has to be dramatic.

this video (and the music) really puts into perspective how long ago he was drafted. Pretty amazing that he's still going strong

Being unfairly put in Suter's doghouse during that time didn't help his confidence either. sometime after the 2012 cup win, he fell out of favor with the coach, and IMO, Suter did everything he could to wreck his career. This was the team Captain he did this too, btw. Glad he shook it off and continues to produce.
