Neither side will get close to agreeing on his value and he is one of the few players the Wild probably shouldnt move.

Everyone has a price though and if they really want to tank to get some good draft picks trading Dumba for a big haul of futures may be an option.

Pretty bad take.

That being said, we don't really need dumba this season.
Maybe in the offseason if we can't resign Barrie.
But right now we don't really have the assets nor the space to add him.

Unless we were trading Barrie + a truck load of other assets.

It just doesn't make sense.

Realistically it's still a bad option to sell him off for futures.

He's long-term going to be their #1 Dman if he's not there already. They just need 2-3 years of high draft picks & focus on forwards imo

Ya perhaps but the wild dont have many guys they will be able to trade and even less that will return good value.

Trading Dumba for a blue chipper + picks achieves two goals important to a rebuild: acquiring good picks/prospects and making sure your team is in a position to draft as high as possible

Edit: not saying they should do it but it will be an option they consider depending on the return

Even if Minnesota's truly awful this year I don't think they're going to jump headlong into a 3-5 year rebuild, which is the only context in which selling Dumba for futures makes much sense.

Ya it is certainly a tough spot to be in.

Cant really shed guys like Parise easily so it will be hard to rebuild but also dont have a ton of assets to re-tool.

There would be a + on Dumba, but many Leaf fans think the way Marner conducted negotiations will mean eventually when the cap crunch can't be pushed back Marner will be the one to go.

At 11M a year for Marner there certainly wouldn’t be a + on Dumba.

Bad for both teams. The only two players the Wild should try to keep are Dumba and Brodin, because they are young enough to anchor the team defense for years to come.

TOR is one of the few teams out there that doesn't need help in scoring goals and on the PP, and that is Dumba's forte. They need a RH'ed version of Brodin, essentially, a solid defender who can also keep up with the speed of the modern game.

There is no reason the Wild should be focusing on keeping Brodin in the same way they focus on keeping Dumba.

Of course there would. I know this is a trade board but a 90 point 22 year old winger would be a dream come true for a handful of teams in the league. A team like the Wild would be gifted a young star forward.

No, Dumba at this point is our centerpiece to build from.

There is no reason the Wild should be focusing on keeping Brodin in the same way they focus on keeping Dumba.
Agreed, Brodin is one of our most movable assets, and will likely be gone by expansion, one way or another.

For sure the plus would be on Dumba. I am a fan of neither team and found Marner's omission from that list interesting was all.

Dumba would be very expensive to get via trade......doubt they consider that.
