If Calgary actually had a problem with the hit, Tkachuk should've taken care of things as he was on the ice and Dumba certainly is no Kassian.

RatBoy is pretty good eh?
@FeatherHead It seems like you're expressing outrage, but the answers to most of your rhetorical questions are "actually, yes."
The current NHL rules still entirely tolerate hits to the head where the hit cannot be made without hitting the head. The general premise is that any player carrying the puck is allowed to be hit. There is no body position they can adopt to prevent a player from legally hitting them. As long as Dumba here keeps his feet on the ice prior to the hit, which he does, keeps his arms tucked, which he did, and plants the hit through the centre of Backlund's body, which he does, then head contact is deemed to be inevitable in the process of making a clean hit, and there is no violation of Rule 48 on the play.
The NHL is a different animal than the IIHF and (apparently) the NFL, though I don't know about that league's rules. In international hockey, all head hits are illegal, but the NHL still has very different rules.
Helen Keller could see both his feet on the ice at the moment of impact. He jumped into him and left his feet
Wasn't a headshot.Shhh... headshots are clean because his head is down. Least that's what most of hf thinks.
The rule book will be a better rule book once it's changed to make any head contact, accidental or otherwise, an automatic suspension.
Ever seen a hip check?
And yet we've seen those "head down" hits get penalized often... The NHL doesn't agree with you or itself.
I don't know what you define as a headshot but he clearly hits him with a shoulder to the head. I still don't think it was a dirty hit. Players need to stop lunging and putting them in a position to not be able to avoid major contact. If he's skating upright he's got a good chance to side step the bulk of that hit and completely avoid any contact to his head.Wasn't a headshot.
RatBoy gets your D blown up out of spite. Long term statistical liability for games missed for blueliners.
Often means often and consistency is the most important piece to discipline. Without it, your league isn't credible.Often isn't always and wrong calls in the past doesn't mean you need to make them in the future.

People like you are ruining hockey. The rule book will be a better rule book once it's changed to make any head contact, accidental or otherwise, an automatic suspension.

Those who have this opinion generally fit two criteria:
1) They never played the game at any competitive level
AND
2) They skipped physics class in high school
Hopefully this doesn't get edited or deleted. People with this guy's viewpoint are literally ruining the game by over correcting a problem.
Kind of reminds one of the typical matt tkachuk manoeuvre doesn't it.What a turtling wuss The hit was borderline but the turtle should be suspension worthy.
