Anaheim, Calif. -- The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League Club (NHL) will host this season's four-team round robin rookie tournament with the Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes and San Jose Sharks this September. The tournament will be held at Disney Ice (Lincoln Ave & Harbor Blvd.), the club's official practice facility.

The tournament will begin on September 9, with each team playing four games. The first three games will be in a round-robin format, with tournament play Sept. 9, 10 and 12 (practice day for all teams on Sept. 11). On-ice play will conclude with a third place game and a championship final on September 13.

“We are excited to take our turn hosting this event and believe it's a fantastic way to get our young prospects some game experience,†said Interim General Manager Al Coates. “Each of the four team's participating have some terrific young talent, giving our fans a chance to see the NHL stars of tomorrow.â€

Each of Anaheim's three first round draft picks over the last two years are scheduled to appear in the tournament: Ryan Getzlaf (19th overall in 2003), Corey Perry (28th overall in 2003) and Ladislav Smid (9th overall in 2004).

Complete rosters and game times for the rookie tournament will be announced in August, with at least 24 players per team scheduled to appear. Mighty Ducks season seat holders will have the first opportunity at game tickets, with a select number of general admission tickets available on game days. Further information will be made available in August.
