is this mutual agreement for contract termination? I was surprised he was one of the first cuts. Sounded like he was having a good camp.

This seems sort of odd, even if he wanted to return to Finland, couldn't we loan him there and retain his rights?

Not that his rights are overly valuable, but I didn't think he had become a complete write off just yet.

Maybe there's a plan for the vacant contract slot?

I wonder if this has anything to do with his preseason no-show.

What a waste of a second round pick.

He is just not fast enough and doesn't seem like he wants to be out there compared to most guys giving it their all.

Disappointing how he's panned out - figured he had 2nd line potential when we drafted him.

That sucks. He seemed to be doing great in camp and I thought this could be his year to start proving himself. I wonder if there's something more to this termination?

He read the polls where you guys tanked him down to 25. Thanks a lot guys :shakehead

Meh at this point he just wasn't showing much to get excited about. It's tough to picture a guy turning out to be more than a fringe/bland depth piece when he's not showing stand out offensive ability nor the traits of a high end energy guy.

He was taken with the pick from the Palmieri trade right? Do we have anything left to show from that deal?

Not surprised, didn't seem like he wow'd a lot of people when he was in the A in the past couple of years.

I was high on him, but its funny to see in retrospect how high we were on prospects before.

All prospects are a gamble. We have had plenty of other 2nd round picks that have tanked. The statistics are that only about ⅓ of second round picks have an NHL career of some sort. On the other hand we have hand some picks from the deep dark end of the draft that have turned out great, like Manson and Kase.

If you look - not much of a talent after him in that draft. Seems like a weak (no depth) draft year tbh.
I hope he can turn his career around in Finland

Haha, maybe he should have watched some tape of his play. I didn't see a single translatable skill while he was here. I hope he goes to Europe and continues to develop into something that makes me eat crow, but that sure as hell isn't happening here. The NHL isn't a camp scrimmage.
