How do you guys feel about Perry now after a year of him fighting for you guys in a great season for the team? I know many of you despised him before. Plenty of us in socal are rooting for you guys for Perry and Cogs. I'm loving Heiskanen, wish we had a dman close to that. You guys are a complete team when Seguin, Benn, and Radulov are scoring. Good luck and thanks for any answers anout Perry. Go Stars!

Absolutely don't mind him . With how he plays its just natural to dislike him when your team plays against him. Now that he's on my team i don't mind cheering for him. From all accounts he's also a great guy in the lockerroom and off the ice so that also makes it easier.

Some of his penalties are frustrating but he's cut down on that in the playoffs too.

He also clearly knows and has accepted he now gets to play in a dimished role because of his injuries .

Pretty much took the words right out of my mouth with this one. Also love his role on that 2nd PP unit and his ability to make plays happen in tight spaces.

I thought his calm play was pivotal in the 3rd and overtime of Game 5..smart plays on the puck, great puck use, created the dump in in OT leading to the power play..

Obviously there is no tertiary assists in hockey, but he had the pass before secondary assist on each goal to tie it and win it, and still found his position in front of net.

As the game slows down, his hands and reads of the play have been important.

I respect him for being a good team guy, accepting a depth role etc... but he's just not very good. I don't particularly like him and look forward to him hopefully moving on.

I like him and wouldn't mind having him back at the right price if he liked it here- even if he doesn't play every game. Good dude to have around.
And its funny you say that about Heiskanen. We got to lament passing on Cam Fowler in 2010 so I guess its your turn for Dman envy.

He should not be re-signed, but he's been an important part of the 2nd PP. It's less common for him to have an impact at ES, but that's not to say there haven't been moments where he's had a burst of energy and made a surprising play. That pass to set up Oleksiak on the GWG against Calgary was a thing of beauty.

I really don’t like Perry. Not as a person just as the hockey player he is now.

He just can’t keep up anymore. Simple as that. It looks like he’s skating in quicksand out there and is a complete liability at 5 on 5.

His only saving grace is his hockey smarts are through the roof and he can still be decent down in the offensive zone on the cycle and he’s been good on PP 2 for us. He has also added some grit and that “will” to win that I’m sure helps get the boys fired up. I think back to that play in the Avs series where Perry goes nuts and tries slashing there goalies arm off and a scrum broke out and we some how managed to get on the PP and score and later won that game. Those moments are huge, so I can’t say he hasn’t been a positive member of the team, he has. And from all accounts he’s been good in the locker room too.

But like I said early, his skating ability just doesn’t cut it anymore and in today’s NHL that’s pretty much the most important attribute. Going into next year he should be replaced with someone younger.

Yes, I forgot about that pass to Oleksiak in round 1. That was a huge moment in these playoffs. That’s an example of his amazing hockey IQ and offensive instincts.

I'm not really concerned. There's virtually no chance he's re-signed. Nill's already stated they want to try an re-sign Khudobin. If he's successful, he's used up the majority of his cap space (assuming all RFAs are signed which is a strong assumption). Dallas' best prospect in the AHL is also a natural fit to replace Perry. It just makes to much sense that Perry is the least likely UFA to return.

He's basically a PP specialist at this point for Dallas, and I'm completely fine with that for 2 more weeks.

Fowler is probably the most overrated dman in the league imho, better than Campbell of course but the worse pass was Tarasenko that draft

I'm a fan. His ability to control the puck around the net and some of the stuff he does with the puck in the tightest of spaces is very impressive. I think he's better than the majority of the board feels. He's slow as shit but the stick skills are still there.

I think it stung more that he arrived so quickly and then Dallas turned around and traded Neal for Goligoski later that same season.

Does it make sense to sign Khudobin? I mean, I would love for him to stay but given his age and the fact that we used a first rounder on Otter so we should be clearing a space for him to play him, no?
