Forgive me for being a little late on these, but some coaching news to pass along...

Jim Montgomery has been hired as DU's new head coach. Montgomery, a Maine alum, was supposedly in the mix for the job at his alma mater too. Montgomery (if memory serves me correctly) coached at Dubuque (USHL) this season.

Steve Rohlik, who has been the Buckeyes' associate head coach under recently fired head coach Mark Osiecki, has been named the team's new head coach.

In addition to Maine, Alaska-Anchorage is also in the process of finding a new head coach.

Stay tuned.

New head coaches update:

With the exception of Alabama-Huntsville, all of the NCAA vacant coaching positions have now been filled. UAH is expected to name their new head coach by month's end (or so I've heard).

Here's the complete list of new coaches. Former duties/team in parenthesis.

Denver: Jim Montgomery (GM & head coach, Dubuque Fighting Saints)

Ohio State: Steve Rohlik (promoted from assistant coach)

Boston University: David Quinn (assistant coach, Colorado Avalanche)

Maine: Red Gendron (associate head coach, Yale)

UConn: Mike Cavanaugh (associate head coach, Boston College)

Alaska-Anchorage: Matt Thomas (head coach, Stockton Thunder)
