Seems like a decent trade for both teams. Hopefully the Rangers are still a year away from being good so the pick is in the mid 30s

A 2nd for 1 season is pretty good

Very happy with the deal, regardless of if Marc can even make it back into the NHL. Steve and staff have a history of finding value in the draft, if its an early 2nd thats a big win.. If its later, even more comfortable for Steve to take a chance on somehow who fits his vision. Stall gets to be a little closer to home, and have a chance to play everyday if he can find his spot. This really has zero downside once again.. Patience is key, and Yzerman is sticking to the plan.

This is a nice move. Staal can still hold a spot, and help a little, on our awful blueline and we get a 2nd round draft pick in return.
Hard to find the downside here, as it's only a year cap dump.

Forever Lost.
I’m surprisingly happy with this move. Staal is definitely on his last legs but he’s a veteran who actually knows how to lead. Something our other veterans seem lost at. I would give him an A right off the bat. He should be a good mentor for our other young defenseman too.
It's a 2021 2nd rounder and we now have 3 next year (as well as 3 this year)

Unfortunately it's a 2021 pick. It will still probably end up in the first half, though. We'll see.
the 2nd round and onward is based on standings not the lottery. Also it’s a 2021 not 2020
And clearing 1 year under $6 million in cap of a still lowly functional NHL defenseman is being vastly overrated by you.
