Mark Recchi and Dr. Charles “Chip†Burke will be named to the Pittsburgh Penguins’ All-Time Team in a ceremony before Wednesday’s 7 p.m. game against the Montreal Canadiens at CONSOL Energy Center.
Team owner Mario Lemieux will make a special presentation to Recchi and Burke.
Recchi becomes the 16th player named to the Trib Total Media Penguins’ All-Time Team, joining Lemieux, Ron Francis, Paul Coffey, Jaromir Jagr, Kevin Stevens, Tom Barrasso, Rick Kehoe, Jean Pronovost, Larry Murphy, Ulf Samuelsson, Syl Apps, Joe Mullen, Dave Burrows, Les Binkley and Pierre Larouche. Five other players are honorable mention selections – Randy Carlyle, Rick Tocchet, Martin Straka, Ron Stackhouse and Lowell MacDonald.
Burke will be inducted as a “builder,†joining Scotty Bowman, Herb Brooks, Ed DeBartolo Sr., Bob Johnson, Eddie Johnston, Craig Patrick, John Barbero, A.T. Caggiano, Elaine Heufelder, Mike Lange, Vince Lascheid, Jack Riley and Frank Scuilli.
