One of the best 4th liners in the NHL?

How long will he remain this good?

But whats up with his hair? He is 31 years old and have gray hair?

Dye job imo. When Drew grows a beard there's no visible gray.

No I don't think he dyes it. Prematurely gray hair is a thing. I knew a guy in high school with gray hair. I looked it up back then. It generally means that the hair is healthy. I don't remember why it happens, but I think he just has prematurely gray hair. The same way that facial and pubic hair isn't the exact same color as head hair, his beard remains black.

He's been very good. Not chipping in quite as much offensively as I would wish but he's been very reliable, and I think he looks faster out there than ever before. Really able to get some good speed going at times.

In reality, he probably is one of the better 4th liners in the league, but fans tend to have unreal expectations of what 4th liners should be capable of, so I doubt people see it that way. The "best" 4th liners that people often point to are those guys who are either having career years or guys who are young and on an upward trajectory that will eventually end up as 3rd or 2nd line guys.

What I personally like about Miller is his consistency. You know more or less what you're going to get from him year-to-year. He plays a pretty thankless role but hasn't ever really slacked off or checked out.

And that's why its progressively gotten more grey as he's aged? There's no way its a dye job. He's not a young lawyer trying to look experienced.

What aged? He's 31 and looked like he had a "highlight" peroxide job years ago.

One of the least talked about players on the team, which is probably a good thing if you're a 4th line PK specialist.

Miller's a PK'ing boss. I love his effort.

I say we easily resign him.
His contract still lasts throughout the next season. Once I thought $ 1.3m would be a bit rich, but I was very wrong. Miller has been very solid with the Red Wings; have they ever had a better (or even another) waiver pickup?

i think we have players coming up who can do what he does and he has already regressed a bit on scoring department (not all is on him) and he'd turn 33 on first year of his next deal. 4th line players usually don't have that long self-life. when top6 player regresses, he can still be useful role player. when 4th liner regresses, he's out of the league (unless babcock is the biggest fan of him)...

maybe if it's short term and it looks like we have no replacements coming up, but otherwise no.

Very smart guy, willing to block shots, very sound positionally, pretty good skater.

Skinny dude, hits pack no punch, gets outmuscled in battles, offense has dried up.

Okay if he stays, okay if he goes. Don't think he's hard to replace by any means.

I like Miller as well, but this is the best means of asset management, imo.
