Is he trying to body slam Timo Meier before the slash? Whatever that was definitely looks like it deserves a bit of a tap.

Probably just caught him in a sensitive spot. The tantrums are a Doughty trademark.

Not much to see here, really.

Doesn't need to be a hard hit in that area to hurt a lot. That said, Doughty probably would've had the same reaction if he got hit in the skate blade.

Come on Doughty! JFC.

I'll usually be the first to defend a guy saying getting hit with a stick hurts but this is ridiculous. Is he wearing the same broken shin pads I wore playing peewee hockey in 1976? You'd think he got shot with an elephant gun ffs.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Doughty is a terrific player, but he comes across as very entitled. It’s okay for him, but when someone else does something it’s worth yelling at an official about?

I think it goes beyond entitlement; I think it's just an issue of immaturity.

Also possible. I have the same issue with Getzlaf when he gets bitchy when things don’t go his way. You just want them to shut up and play, you know? They’re fantastic players. Suck it up and get back to the game. Your teams need you. And I say this as an Anaheim fan.

Lol at people defending him. Even if that slash did hurt, there's no doubt that he completely overreacted. Guys get whacked like that all the time and don't react like this.
He got hit right on the side of his knee though. Horrible spot to get slashed and it hurts like hell because of where it was. It probably was very painfull for 5-10 minutes.
Could easily be a minor penalty just like all the other slashes that are ignored during a normal game could be called.

I can imagine how that could’ve caught him in the space where there’s nothing but a hockey sock for protection. That’s right where that cluster of muscles and tendons comes together behind the knee, so it probably gave him a dead leg for a moment. Not a surprise that he thought he had been injured, he had no way to know how much damage was done.

Doughty’s a meathead, so it also doesn’t surprise me that he would find time to yell at the refs through whatever pain or fear he was experiencing.

Not comparable to Neymar, not a dive, not a major cheapshot. It’s hockey and guys are fired up, this stuff will happen.

Doughty sold it, and I'm a Kings fan.

Love him as a player, but hate these antics.
I actually think it was extremely painfull for him for a couple minutes. Side of the knee is a spot that hurts a lot to get slashed at.
Im not a Kings fan but it could easily been called a minor slashing penalty because it was a slash.
With that said, slashes like that happens 100 times every game and get ignored, but because of the spot he got slashed it was very painfull for a short time.

I don't disagree. I'm sure it actually hurt.

But I think he also exaggerated the degree of trauma he felt.

Uhh I'm a little stunned to see people bring up that that's a painful unpadded part of the body. While technically correct, if the amount of force delivered in that slash was enough to cause THAT amount of pain, maybe this isn't the game for him.

Definitely Neymar'd everyone there.
