Well, When Dubas trades Freddy to the caps will free up the space for futures. And Hoffman is Hyman lite. He is fast and dogs the puck. And it can't hurt to have another 30 goal man on a wing.

Awesome idea. So we go with Campbell as our #1, because as you've said elsewhere, he outplayed Freddy last year, in his full SIX starts. I mean, who can beat that logic, and great sample size. What could possibly go wrong, with deciding to go with a 29 year old guy, who has a total 56 NHL starts, as your starter?

Just so you can bring in a PP specialist, who isn't really that good at much else, and certainly doesn't produce 5v5...

I mean, if Campbell had a better track record, I could see using the cap space, and some assets to improve the D, but for another forward who isn't good defensively, or 5v5.. that just isn't smart.

Apparently LeBron, feels this is happening. I would be ecstatic. Blues defense is worse but the offence with Krug and hoffman + a healthy tarasenko and a break out season by Thomas would be offensive heaven

That's fantastic, but wouldn't we be screwed once Tarasenko comes back? We'd then be over the cap right? That's what I don't understand about this rumor. If we signed Hoffman what do we do in March with Tarasenko back? Trade Bozak?

Only in playoffs: my guess is that you delay his activation off IR

Depends on what Hoffman gets. The blues right now have 4.85 mil in cap space when tarasenko comes off IR without Dunn being resigned. There are moves that could be made to free up money to make it work.

Have there ever been signings on Christmas eve/ Christmas? You'd think today was the day to get it done if a team wants him for training camp.

Wonder if a sign and trade could work? Pay a team like Florida a 2nd/3rd to retain half of Hoff’s salary? If St Louis thinks it can contend, could make a lot ofnsense

You’re forgetting Clifford. The roster is deep even without Tarasenko or adding Hoffman. But the Blues should count anything from Tarasenko this year as bonus. The season is only 4 months long. I’d worry about fitting Tarasenko’s cap as a problem for tomorrow and work to sign Hoffman today. There will inevitably be other injuries, etc to change the situation.

Well we are getting 5.75 from Steen.
Think we are 1 over now. Dunn would be 2 so that's 2.75 plus the 7.5 of tarasenko. We could move a player or two or even Dunn and fit hoffman for 1 year. Lit of things could happen. If we sign hoffman we could move Mack Mack, Blais, Dunn, gunnerson, it wouldn't take much.

Also if tarasenko comes back after the season then he will not count against cap.

Honestly with the addition of krug and scandella I think the easiest thing to do would ask for a 1st + for Dunn. Krug is better and scandella is a better defensively sound player. Hoffman is a 30 goal scorer. Can't beat that.

The Clifford & De La Rose deals look stupid right now, as we could give Hoffman 3-4 and Dunn 2.5 if they weren’t on the books.
