For as long as I can remember, I had dreamed of the day the Leafs would draft and develop their own NHL level talent. As of today, 13 of the 17 players on the Leafs (excluding the 6 pending UFAs) roster were all drafted by the Leafs and/ or were developed by the Marlies. Which is absolutely insane. Add on to that fact that we will most likely see a few more Marlies this year (Grundstrom, Rosen, Aaltonen, Goat, Borgman) and we could potentially have upwards of 17-18 of the 23 man roster filled with guys we've developed on our own.

It's very refreshing to see the current state of the Leafs and Marlies. Hiring Dubas also goes a long way for the development system because he is extremely familiar with the talent we're grooming in the AHL and we truly do have some great players and prospects down with the Marlies who are just waiting for their shot to be called up.
