One of my favorites in this thread. However I would prefer someone else instead of Bourque. LOVE Ovchinnikov & Johannesson
I'm pretty high on Bourque but it was tough with Brisson right there. Bourque's hockey IQ was the difference for me. I really like little Ovi and Sam Johannesson too. Would be ecstatic to get either one.

if the wings are high enough on askarov, i could see a trade for 7 and 18/20 completed. devils have plenty of picks to move up and get a guy they might not have a shot at getting at 4.
Askarov is the same tier as Perfetti for me, so I deferred to the forward. But I'm one of the people who wouldn't even be mad at Askarov at 4 either. His upside is as high as any in this draft. I also think the Devils need a high-end D and 4 is a great spot to get one. No way Drysdale and Sanderson are both available at 7, so if they greatly prefer one to the other I could see the benefit in them moving up. Getting Lundell at 18 would be a coup.

Devils have Hischier and Hughes.
I think they'd be smarter to stay where they are. The guy they get at 7 is probably not much different, value wise, than the guy at 4, based on what I'm seeing in draft rankings and my view of the crop.
I could see packaging 18 and 20 to move up to 10 or something.

Brisson vs Bourque is tough... personally I think both are top 20 players.

Same. I like Bourque slightly more but the margin is very thin.

In the same draft Jarvis went at 28. If I had not simmed to my pick I would have traded back up to get Jarvis. Getting three players in my top 10 in the first would have been amazing.

if they are high enough on drysdale they certainly have the capital to move up and get him. i don't think a trade out of #4 is all too likely.

Might NJ have their eyes on Drysdale?

(45) Dylan Peterson, C
(55) Joni Jurmo, LD
(62) Vasili Ponomaryov, C

(155) Samuel Johannesson, RD

Building down the middle

Left Defense.
Jake Sanderson - A potential Norris caliber two-way defenseman.
Joni Jurmo - A big 6'4 defenseman with great physical tools. A bit of a project, but could be a big reward.
Yan Kuznetsov - Played in the NCAA in his draft year. Rare for a defenseman. Another 6'4 defenseman who skates. Maybe not a ton of skill, but we'll see.
Ronan Seeley - A 6-foot defenseman with great skating, good skill and good IQ. Sounds like a left-handed Nick Jenson.
Between Sanderson, Jurno, Kuznetsov, Seely and Seeley, along with Johansson, McIsaac and Cholowski, our young LD depth should produce a starting lineup. Yzerman loves his big defensemen. This draft gives as some size, speed and skill.

Center.
Marat Khusnutdinov - Great skater with pretty good skill. Good competitor with good hockey sense. He's 5'11, so not too small. Perfect Yzerman pick.
Dylan Peterson - Great skater, but maybe light on skill. 6'4 Righthander. Might never be a big producer but has the hands to score some goals.
Vasili Ponomaryov - 5'10 center with less than good skating. Hmmm. Mulligan please.

Right Defense.
Samuel Johannesson - His stats in what should have been his D+1 year were strong. Smallish, swift and very skilled with good IQ.

Goal
Fabio Iacobo - Shot in the dark.

LeftWing
Maxim Beryozkin -Big Russian winger whose scouting reports don't wow you. But he scores.

Stutzle, Khuznutdinov, Jurmo, Barron, Klevin, Finley, Dufour, Halliday, Rhinehart, and Richels. Almost my dream draft. No goalies but none really light my fire

No trades.
(4) Jake Sanderson, LD
(32) Jan Mysak, LW/C
(45) Ryan O'Rourke, LD
(54) Ozzy Wiesblatt, RW
(62) Theodor Niederbach, C
(64) Emil Heineman, LW
(106) Dylan Garand, G
(124) Dmitri Ovchinnikov, LW
(155) Samuel Johannesson, RD
(186) Mason Langenbrunner, RD

With this draft, we're probably set at LD for awhile.
Some possibilities at center in Mysak and Niederbach.
Some pop on the wing in Wiesblatt, Heineman and Ovchinnikov.
A decent goalie prospect and RD.

Got a real solid one leading off with a dark horse for 4th OA.

4. Askarov
32. Brisson
45. Jurmo
54. Wiesblatt
62. Niederbach
64. Robins
106. Ovchinnikov
124. S. Johannesson
155. Laferriere
186. Ramberg

Regardless of was taken at 4, picks 32-155 would be amazing to see. I don't know why, but when I see Jurmo he just seems like the type of player Stevie would draft, so I make sure to grab him every time. Wouldn't shock me to see us take him at 32 if he's available.

On the Draft Pro version I started out Stutzle and Wallinder. On Bob McKenzie’s I got Byfield and O’Rourke. Which was the better start?

Ive been drafting both Mavrik Bourque and Jean-Luc Foudy whenever I can, both have that Brayden Point breakout potential.
