33. Perreault C

Stop doing this to me. I need reasonable expectations heading into this thing. Otherwise when things go actually pretty well and we get Perfetti at 4 and O'Rourke at 32 I'm going to be disappointed. Getting Byfield/Stutzle + Mysak/Reichel is just too much. I can't live in that fantasy and then come back to this reality.

Ryan Suter never broke 50 points before he signed his $100 million dollar deal.

These NHL GMs and team cap experts aren't idiots who only dial up point values like they are the AI in a hockey video game.

Not only that but you also usually see the really good teams have at least one guy back there who can generate some serious offense. You can win without that guy, but I think it makes things easier on your forwards and on the power play to have that guy. If you're really looking at a blueline that is led by a handful of guys putting up 30-40 points I think having a backend entirely lacking in guys who can generate offense is going to be an issue at some point.

I felt the same exact way  To make matters worse it was based off Bob's list so it made it feel all the more likely. If Zadina can fall to us at 6 maybe some of these guys can fall to 4 or 32.

I honestly think there's close to a 50 percent chance one of those guys is available.

Yeah, you’re only saving money if they (clearly) lack something. I’m more worried about getting really good players than cap bargains.

i feel i waited too long to pull the trigger on a goaltender, but overall, i think this is an interesting group.

004. perfetti
032. bourque
045. andrae
062. wisdom
064. kaiser
106. pashin
124. ovchinnikov
155. hlavaj
186. tyutnev

andrae and kaiser are great d prospects. perfetti and bourque have top 6 potential. mark edwards' staff is pretty high on wisdom, so i knabbed him, even though he looks like a bit of a long shot to me. pashin and ovchinnikov are great swing for the fences picks.

i do feel it's unlikely that bourque drops out of the first round, but we all know that one or two guys expected to go top 20 are going to fall. bourque would be a great pick that could maybe possibly drop. so here's hoping.

*edit: wording.

theres going to be one guy who drops, there always is. doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the player but all it takes is for teams to have one guy above whoever it is on their board.

DRW DRAFT
(4) Jake Sanderson, LD
(32) Lukas Reichel, LW/C
(45) Roni Hirvonen, C
(55) Helge Grans, RD

(124) Calle Clang, G
(155) Samuel Johannesson, RD
(186) Devon Levi, G

tough calls:
Chose Reichel over Bourque and Khusnut
Feeling bad about not taking a center, I took Hirvonen over O'Rourke.
Felt bad about not drafting a goalie higher, but I just didn't see a good option at the right spot, but I got 2, so maybe that's better anyway.

(4) Tim Stutzle, C - IRL, might still take Sanderson, but wanted a different look.
(32) William Wallinder, LD - Had some good options here, including Reichel and Khusnut, but needed that LD.
(45) Lukas Reichel, LW/C - Somehow, Reichel was still here. So boom.
(55) Yan Kuznetsov, LD - Bolstering at LD.
(62) Theodor Niederbach, C - Another possible top 9 center.
(64) Ronan Seeley, LD - Another LD option.
(106) Cross Hanas, LW - potential top 9 winger.
(124) Samuel Johannesson, RD - Smallish skilled RD
(155) Viktor Persson, RD - Two way RD
(186) Jan Bednar, G - Big goalie.

Lots of Cs, Lots of LDs.

Got another God-Tier Draft.

7) Perfetti, C
18) Lundell, C
32) Bourque, C
45) Colangelo, RW
55) Niederbach, C
62) Andrae, LD
106) Ovchinnikov, LW
124) S. Johannesson, RD
155) Levi, G
186) Hlavaj, G

Obviously contingent on NJ really needing Drysdale (who they selected in this Sim) or whomever, but I think 4+64 for 7+18 is pretty fair value given the fact that 4 is prime real estate. While this draft is vertically challenged, the amount of offensive skill I was able to grab was staggering. Also Levi is a huge sleeper in this draft IMO, he has huge upside as a late-round steal.

One of my favorites in this thread. However I would prefer someone else instead of Bourque. LOVE Ovchinnikov & Johannesson

if the wings are high enough on askarov, i could see a trade for 7 and 18/20 completed. devils have plenty of picks to move up and get a guy they might not have a shot at getting at 4.
