they have 5 2nd rounders right now--three in 05 draft as well

so they will have 5 between 31 and 60---as of today--the Hawks will have the 2nd most balls in the lotto after pittsburgh--so it is not that far fetched--

and poor Dale Tallon basically has to scout all those players himself :p

Hmmm... I only count 4. Which one am I missing? I have ones from Dallas, Nashville, Philly, and their own.

Calgary traded it's 2004 3rd round pick to Pittsburgh for Andrew Ference.
Everywhere I've seen says this is just a conditional pick so far. Where did you find out it's a 3rd?

According to TSN.ca, which does make mistakes, Atlanta traded their 6th and 8th this year to New Jersey in the Smehlik trade.

A lot of those will have to be packaged...or Clark will move some at the deadline.

I'll put it on the list, but it'll be in brackets until it's revealed which exact pick it is. I knew he was traded for a pick, but I didn't have a round or even a year, so I had left it off the list till now.

From Legends of Hockey, Smehlik was "Traded to New Jersey by Atlanta with New Jersey's 6th and 8th round choices (previously acquired) in 2004 Entry Draft for New Jersey's 4th round choice (Michael Vannelli) in 2003 Entry Draft, March 10, 2003." Now I gotta figure when New Jersey traded those two picks to Atlanta in the first place. Atlanta traded Pascal Rheaume to Jersey in Feb 2003 for future considerations, and I'm thinking that one or both of those were the considerations.

Somewhat related -- in the Lemieux/Pellerin trade in Jan 2003, Dallas sent a conditional 2004 pick to Phoenix (or future considerations, depending on what site you go to). Also, Philadelphia traded Paul Ranheim to Phoenix in Dec 2002 for a conditional 2004 pick (or future considerations). If anyone can clear up those trades, let me know so I can fix the list.

Outstanding job.

One other deal, Timmander to Philly for a seventh rounder to the Isles in 2004.
Thanks. I wonder how I missed that one. Chicago now has the most 2004 picks (15), Philadelphia is second (14), and Nashville third (12).

wow chicago has 5 2nd rounders? looks like they might be the day 1 winners like nashville was last year. Nice, maybe they can finally get that organization turned completely around within the next few years

They have 4 2nd rd picks. Pulford will mess it up no matter how many they have.
