unless we win the lottery or have a ton of injuries, i expect us to be picking around the same spot next year. around 10. we won't be bad enough to get a top pick without winning the lottery. that would be too easy

I'll 100% be that person. I'm cool with it. I've not had to be that person since I was sure that Puljujarvi was nowhere near the third best player in the 2016 draft.

I've watched both all year, and thats what I've seen. I think Turcotte projects better to the pro game than Hughes. Hughes is the best junior hockey player I think I've ever seen. I'm not convinced he'll be as good in the NHL relative to his peers. Hughes will go #1 though because the tide is so unbelievably strong, but Turcotte will likely have the better career.

And I also think there's a chance that Byram, Newhook and Cozens will deserve to be drafted ahead of Hughes, although right now I can't put them ahead of Hughes.

Fair enough, just surprising for me personally!

We’re going to finish last in the Metro. The only two teams that look worse are Ottawa and Detroit. Bottom 5 easy.

i'm not buying it...not my first rodeo. we will win enough to not get a top 5 cause its the worse scenario

Won't get fooled again

Have you looked at this defense?
Well, it's not good, but if Smith should bounce back, if Shattenkirk is healthy, and Pionk and ADA are decent it's not half bad. Plus with a different system. Dallas went from awful to one of the best defensive teams in the nhl with changing the coach from Ruff to Hitchcock.

That’s a lot of ‘ifs’.

Next year is potentially the year we have a good shot at a first line center prospect.
I still think Chytil can be that, while Andersson slides as a very good number 2 guy. Having many good and young centers is an awesome problem to have though.

Thanks! Remembered seeing it somewhere a few months ago but didn't dig it up
