It's been covered before, but he is far to much of a one trick pony. Does not belong in top-10, IMO. Zegras, Turcotte should all be going before him.
Eh I think his issues are a bit overrated. I would prob take Turcotte over him but I have a feeling he'll be gone before we can select

If we're selecting between 8-12 the guy I want is Kaliyev. Need a pure goal scorer like him

I wouldn't. As much as I agree with NYR needing a pure goal scorer, I think it would be silly to pass on someone who could be there in the top 10. Turcotte, York, Zegras or even Suzuki or Dorofeyev are some that might entice in the 8-12 range....

I love Fagemo and hadn't looked at the ES/PP splits since early on in the season, but while leading his team in ES scoring rate is fantastic - 1 PP point in 33 games with over 2 minutes per game on the PP also says something. Though it seems like Frölunda's PP2 is pants and there is nothing in his skillset that indicates he would struggle on the PP.

Kaliyev and Fagemo, those are my guys - no if's and but's about it.

Yes! It's gaining some traction I see

Kaliyevs production is insane and he's just geared up after losing Saigeon, which is super impressive.

so many here dismiss this kid as one dimensional. that dimension is pretty legit.

hes more than just a shooter. kid just scores. that shot is absolute money. when you watch him play, hes always in the right spot, takes the right shot, puts in the corner and finishes with purpose. his goals are gimmes, they are goal scorers goals. he just knows here to be on the ice.

someone is going to get a 30 goal scorer taking this kid top 15.

Especially in the top 10-12 range

And that's really the long and short of it.

Sometimes you don't particularly love a player's game, but many times it's that you have someone else ranked higher.

Kaliyev has the potential to be a very good pick, but there's several guys I wouldn't necessarily choose him over at this point.

Now if I'm picking 5th and 14th, yeah I'd definitely have him in the conversation for that second pick.

I’m back on the Turcotte train. But, while I expect the Rangers to make a quality pick, there’s still a part of me fearing who they may end up taking. I do not like their insistence that Chytil is a center.

I have not gotten off that train. He or Zegras make for fantastic pick around 10-12.

And I share the same fear. This is where I fear if Clark gets cute and goes off board.

Like Dorofeyev a lot, but his size (or lack there of worries me a bit. He is listed ass over 6 feet, but playing at 165?

Have Boldy a bit higher than you , but that top 8 is where it's at. Brink makes for a good late rounder.

wow. we agree on a good part of this.

ill focus on the top 15 players.

1-3 spot on. dach too high. hes 6 on my list. broberg too low at 12.

dylan cozens is going to be a stud. enormous potential to be a 1C guy.

after that its rearranging deck chairs from 4-10. all so close.

impressed that you have newhook in your top 8 (shhhh....) even though i think maybe thats a bit too high. kids gonna be the steal of this draft. he's my gem pick but 8 is too high. hell go top 12 though no doubt.

would love to have newhook pull on rangers sweater on draft day. stocky, strong with tree trunk thighs. great skater. effortless. going to BC which impresses me. plug him in as your future 2C and profit. big fan.

kaliyev at 15 is too low. i would not be surprised if hes off the board by pick 12. hes my other go to pick. i just think that ability to score will translate. one dimensional ? perhaps but hes no slouch up and down the ice. pure offensive weapon play and a huge boom pick. i absolutely take him after the top 10 are gone.

lavoie too low.

if we some how drafted cozens say at 3 and kaliyev at 12, i would give us A+ grade and do a happy dance.

any 2 of these 3 and im good.

cozens
newhook
kaliyev

Would love to get any of the 6-9 guys, trade up the second first grab Krebs at 14, and take a righty d with size in either Seider or Korczak at 31 from Tampa

In Kaliyev’s case, for me it’s not so much a dismissal, as it is that there are players I simply like more for various reasons.

I can agree with this. I think Kaliyev is a good pick in the 10-20 range, but there might be a faller from that top 10 that could be a "sexier" pick....

I'm not worried with Dorofeyev. The talent is there and he's already looked like he can control consistent KHL time....
