Stop itWhat haplen though if TdA doesn't make the team? Roll the dice with Slavin, Pesce, Skjei, Bear, Cole and Smith? That looks like defense of lottery team lol.

Yeah, sure
My original point was that Cole shouldn't be talking shit especially regarding production in big moments, because hamilton is better than he was.The argument was never who was better Cole or Hamilton. Certainly not that only the playoffs are the only big moments. Speaking on Mr 31 game Hamilton, you take out the 6 points in the 7 games with Washington and you are looking at 24 games and 8 points. Not a huge contribution from your 1RD, one big series and then meh 4 other series.
While everything seemed honky dory to us here on the outside looking in, the Canes were the 3rd team to move on from Dougie. Maybe there is something there that you only know if you are in the in crowd.
It's that soulless aura of him making people uncomfortable near him. While everything seemed honky dory to us here on the outside looking in, the Canes were the 3rd team to move on from Dougie. Maybe there is something there that you only know if you are in the in crowd.

Nah. Worst case is Aho or TT could do it, but I highly doubt it will come to that. Or you hang onto Gardiner. That's over the top. But it does look like the type of defensive core that causes you to sign Tim Brent or Jeff Hamilton to play point on the PP.

Maybe but on paper is meh outside Slavin and Pesce. Big downgrade on what we have in past few seasons. I don't think is anywhere close to the Bruins, Tampa, Vegas or Avs.Nah. Worst case is Aho or TT could do it, but I highly doubt it will come to that. Or you hang onto Gardiner.
As you said, the comment was over the top.
Thats what I'm saying, thank you. I don't want to tear Cole down but come on man the numbers are all publicly availableThe guy who scored 0 in 18 in 2009 is criticizing others for not showing up in the playoffs?
We moved on because of money. I mean....really? After all we’ve seen from this team with Dougie it’s not about money and a character flaw? While everything seemed honky dory to us here on the outside looking in, the Canes were the 3rd team to move on from Dougie. We've kinda become stepping stone central for a number of players...everyone who has left has scored a little cash or a decent gig.I wouldn't say the Canes 'moved on' from him. He chose to leave them for a career-defining bonanza contract. There's a big difference between that and getting traded.

So everyone* performs above paygrade for us.We've kinda become stepping stone central for a number of players...everyone who has left has scored a little cash or a decent gig.
Not really sure what's happening to be honest. Haven't really seen too many teams deconstruct their roster to such a degree that didn't face a learning curve situation for at least a few months while everyone acclimates. So everyone* performs above paygrade for us.
When I heard his interview on xm after he changed his tune you knew there were changes coming. Now we know what that means. He said “we know we need to get better” though. I’m not convinced he would say this is better. Not really sure what's happening to be honest. It's odd..RBA's comments when the season ended is that he hoped to keep the team intact as it was in a good place. Then, he sort of changed his tune 10 days later. It reminds me of getting a new annual budget at work that you don't expect and you have to switch things around and reallocate.
A friend of mine left the Canes organization today. He was instrumental in building up the goodwill this franchise has in the community. I have a feeling he left because of these recent developments (and especially TDA)…I’m not positive, and I’ll never ask him…but I’d bet a lot of money on it.Other people have been talking about this so maybe it's just setting in more for me but the culture shift is getting noticeable and I'm not excited by that.
Going from a "we're all a family here" and we'll look out for you vibe to "you're a number, sign at the dottled line or cyas" isn't a good look. I understand hockey is a business but you can still conduct your business a certain way. I wonder if we're slowly eroding the good will as a franchise we built over all these years.
I guess it's possible the players are far enough from this that after negotiations are over so long as the head coach instills a strong culture things are good for the players but I'm starting to feel less optimistic about that.
I also wonder a bit about our long term success...we know how TD made his money...is there a similar way to apply that philosophy in the NHL? is that towards other GMs or just your own players?
