Ottawa is doing a decent job of the scorched earth rebuild. Of course, I don't think they really wanted to, but here we are.

I like the Anisimov and Namestnikov pickups, and Duclair seems like a decent reclamation project. Get any talent you can, and hurl them over the boards. Some will get value back in a trade, and some might stick on the team through the process.

Heck, they should be signing Vanek and bringing back Phaneuf. See what happens.

I've been thinking about this. Boedker for Backes + or Anisimov for Backes +. Something like that would be appealing to me, at least.

Buffalo has a couple of salary things to work out, from Sobotka (who has been almost useful in... *sigh* a second line RW role) to Bogosian who one day will be off LTIR and is from Massena (only 2 hours away from Ottawa!) and both are expiring deals. Scandella is currently actually playing well in d-zone reliant situations and probably isn't as readily available as we fans would have liked him to be over the summer.

I love to bash the Sens as much as the next guy, but it’s a smart plan. Buy low on a guy that would do well with a change of scenery/increased role, trade him at the deadline for more or re-sign him.

Even if he doesnt keep it up, his 3.25m caphit will be far more manageable at the deadline so I suspect we will get a 4th or better regardless. My guess is 3rd + 5th.
