Lol. Well that would be impossible to argue either way wouldn't it???

:shakehead

Not at all. Those players took team friendly deals because they wanted to stay with the organization, not because Don Sweeney waved a magic wand and tricked them into signing for less than the open market.

It’s not like Marchand, Pastrnak and both players agents were oblivious to their worth in free agency and Sweeney waved a magic wand to convince them to stay for lesser money.

A thousand miles from nowhere
29 years in a row. NHL record. 2 cups... 7 Stanely Cup Finals, 12 division titles. Was a good run.

Ran into Gretz and co in their prime and lemiux in his prime.

Lost two cups to Montreal, 1 to Philly, 2 to Edmonton, also had WHA steal some players, and the unforntunate bad knees of Mr. ORR or would have been even better run

Bourque and ORR in theory should have had almost 10 years of overlap. That pretty much would have guaranteed a cup or two.

Not just those two, but for year or two an overlapping top 4D of Orr, Park, Bourque, Kluzak wouldn't have been too bad.

Kind of BS to crap on Sweeney for his bad moves, but then turn around and belittle his good moves. What's the point?
