Exactly, based on what? There is no link to that whatsoever that I have seen. You lose the NMC clause when it's waived and the Sabres would have had to agree to put it back on.
NMCs are generally worded such that once they kick in, the player has the option to accept any proposed transaction for the duration of the deal independently of anything else. For example, he could accept a trade once, then deny the next 3, then accept the next one offered. ( Unless it was explicitly worded such that a single waiver voided it for good, but unlikely a good agent would advise their client sign that. )
