I am going to make a bold prediction that he will write early like Bure and Orr

If there was a third choice "Yes, but not in Edmonton", that would probably win in a landslide.

Though even if he says in Edmonton for his entire career, it's way too early to say he'll never win a cup. As much fun as it is to troll Edmonton fans, that's way too many years, and he has too much talent to say never -- even if he never leaves Edmonton.

How comical will this look if/when he wins one in the next 3 years?
He's 22 with 7 yrs left on contract, and he's got another generational talent on his wing. And they're currently #1 in the division

And 'deadmonton' has a bigger population than half of the NHL cities across the league. Sure, it's cold, but it's a livelier city than people realize
No. just, no

of course he will. Just a matter of when and where. if it's not with the Oilers, he'll find himself on a contender at some point.

The problem is you can't shop for a contender in the current cap limited NHL, it doesn't work like that anymore. 20 years ago Ray Bourque knew he had a pretty good chance to win the cup when he signed with Colorado. In current NHL you have at least 10 contender teams and a team being last at one point won the cup.

draisaitl isn't a generational talent and more likely than not the team will regress sooner than later

He'll only be 29 when his contract with the Oilers ends. He will have a good 5-8 year window to win a Cup. I say, yes, he wins one. But not more than one.
