    This guy is amazing - lengthy run in Nashville, then even better in Washington (ending with a Cup), and now he's turned NYI into a great team
    2 Adams wins as well

    I think he already is tbh. No way that Isles team does anything to the level that they have in the last few years without him as coach

    A clear YES for me. He got it done in Washington after others had failed and NYI are a very well oiled machine since he took over, getting back the respect they were lacking since the 80's.

    If you count his Washington tenure it's complicated. The team had routinely competed for division titles/presidents trophies during the ovechkin Era before trotz got there so giving him credit for reg season success isn't doing much. So then you have to look at the cup win. Imo the team finally caught lightning in a bottle. All those years of being a top 3 team but never having the luck/grit/bounces/calls go there way ran out and they won one.It was decided before that run trotz was out the door and then they accidently won the cup which made things complicated. Will forver be grateful but not sure how much of it was because trotz.
    What he had done in Nash and what he is doing in NY is impressive.

    He will be the greatest coach in History if he gets them to win another game this season......Isles are done....no 3 month rest for that old team this year on account of Covid. Considering the level of talent they have....He got the most out of them as he did in Nashville and he was lucky in Washington they actually had elite talent . Soon enough Barzal will have had enough and when he quits playing....say good bye to Trotz.

    Which active coach would you prefer to Trotz?
    Probably no one.
    So my answer is yes.

    In the NHL. Yes. Don't know enough about ROW. Caps were insane to let him walk.

    YES! There is going to be World's Got Coaches show in early September. Simon Cowell is set to crown Trotz best coach at this show.

    Just to put this in perspective, Trotz improvement on Caps record over his 4 seasons, over the previous 9 seasons of Ovie:
    President Trophies per season 11% -> 50%
    Playoff rounds per season 1.0 -> 2.5
    Stanley Cup wins per season 0% -> 25%

    Isn't Trotz already the best coach in the world? Who exactly would you list as a "better" coach than him?

    Just thinking of names, I wouldn't have any of Laviolette, Sullivan, Cooper, DeBoer, Quenneville, Vigneault or Gallant above Trotz. I'm not sure what name I'm missing that I'd currently rank over Trotz.

    Best way to word it is to say it will cement his place as best coach. Wouldn't take Cooper/Berube/Sullivan or any of the last cup winners. Maybe Quenneville might have a say, but what Trotz has been doing since he left Nashville is nothing short of superb. I like how Bruce Cassidy expresses himself as well and seems to be a good coach but he's not proven yet.

    Not sure there has ever been a clear-cut best coach in the NHL. There's always a top tier of coaches and Trotz is already in that tier.
