The defense has been horrible all year.

The Hawks have given up the most High Danger Scoring Chances against in the league by a mile

Team Season Totals - Natural Stat Trick

They give up the most High Danger Chances per 60 in the league, by a mile

Team Season Totals - Natural Stat Trick

I don't know how anyone could watch this team this year and not say the defense is one of the worst in the league. Keith has lost a step and Seabrook has lost 3.

I never said they haven't been horrible all year. I'm saying they're improving. There is progress all throughout the back-end.

Kaner's PPG average is now 1.43 and on pace to score 117 points if he kept up this torrid pace which I seriously doubt. He will break 100 and I think wind up with 105-110 points. 928-930 possible career points to end this season.

Kane is 2 pts away from 900 on his career. Only 112 NHL players have ever scored 900 or more pts. Ex-Hawk Amonte ranks 112th with 900 pts

He also ranks 37th for players at age 30 with his point totals today. Mikita had 926 at age 30. Less games played though with 847 to Kanes 871. But Kane is on the same pace as Mikita at the same age.

Far more impressive what Kane is doing, considering how much better the goalies and opponents are these days.

yep, there were some years there where Kane was hitting 70-75 points and was a top 10 scorer...the league was bogged down for many of Kane's years, glad to see things finally opening up more for these skilled guys who have been here since the mid 2000's..

Semi related. Anyone think Kaner will stay redhot and win the points championship? He is currently 2nd.

I am not going to doubt Kaner but the odds are against him as he has a few games in hand and others right around him are on loaded offenses. yes, Toews and Cat are playing great, but he is the only Hawks player in the top 30 scoring in the league - hard to do it when others in the top 5 have 2 other players right there with them in the top 20 scoring as well.

Doesn't seem thread worthy since this one is already discussing Kaner's scoring & prolífic season.

Don't count Patrick Kane out: A second MVP award is within reach for the Blackhawks' magic man

Nobody in the league is playing better now than the Blackhawks’ Kane, who has been doing magical things on an almost-nightly basis for the last two months. Entering Saturday night’s game against the Wild, Kane had a 10-game scoring streak and was second in the NHL with 75 points — trailing only Kucherov's 79 — after totaling a remarkable 50 points in his last 29 games. That's an epic run. Breaking things down over almost any recent stretch of games puts Kane in rarefied air. He had 36 points in his last 16 games, 18 in his last nine and, incredibly, 15 in his last five.

I believe they said if you take out the outdoor game, Kane has an 18 game point streak going lol...the only game he hasn't put up a point in the past 18 games is the freaking outdoor game..

He's the comp to look at. Kane is 30 and better than he's ever been... on the worst team he's ever been on... and he's always been awesome... and he's gonna be really good for a long time

And every year the league moves to style of play that benefits his game with every season. The guy has all-time hands, vision and natural hockey sense -- and that's where his excellence comes from that ages in turtle years compared to greatness based off speed or size. He's spent 12 years as the focus of every teams defensive game plan and never gets hit. He'll play past 40 if he wants and blow past Stan.

Wasn’t He playing with a 50+ goal scoring Stamkos for several of those seasons?

The same guy who without St. Louis in his prime with him has never been a 50 goal scorer? Stamkos didnt make St Louis who already has 90 pts seasons prior.

That’s a fair point too.

Hasn’t Stamkos never been the same since that nasty injury he had? When was that exactly even?
