Nothing was going to be perfect but I think the league did a decent job with the format.

Weird to think that a loser of the play in round potentially could be looking at a top 3 pick. A 1 in 8 chance is quite the consolation prize if that's how the lottery plays out.

I don't like that it might strongly incentivize losing. If in the first lottery round all 3 picks go to mystery teams 8-15, then teams have a really good reason to lose. I don't think the players will try to lose but the fans will be insufferable in rooting for their teams to lose, and I hate that.

Hell
All lotteries are so stupid. Give Detroit #1 and move on. So I’m indifferent to the rules of this lottery.

I think the NHL has done a great job with it's relaunch so far. Not going to please everyone, but I think it's all well thought out and reasonable.

I think the chances are high a team with no business winning 1st OA does. The non playoff teams have just as high of a chance at 1st as Detroit (24% vs 25%). If they win that pick, teams like the Pens, Oilers, Jets, Leafs, Panthers all have 12.5% chance at the pick. That's top 5 pick chances. And all it takes is rust to make them lose a series they should all IMO win.

The one for just this season, or in general? I mean, my answer is no either way, but especially no this season.
