Proposal: Do we have enough assets to get Tavares?

I'm probably gonna get creamed for this but...

If the Islanders don't sign Vanek, does that deal hurt the Islanders future enough to make John Tavares re-assess his surroundings and start thinking about greener pastures?

Yes, it's HIGHLY unlikely GSGM would even consider it, even if JT requested it. But hear me out.

We have a number of assets we can move to get a couple of possible late first round picks (Raymond, Kulemin, Franson, Reimer).

Lets say we get at least one. That gives us 2 firsts.

Those picks, maybe even next years 1st as well, Kadri, Reimer, and a mid level prospect (Leivo, D'Amigo, Connor Brown) for JT.

Plus, Charles Wang is a wild card. You never know WHAT that guy may do.

Too much? Not enough? Should I just quit while I'm ahead?

We have enough assets to get him when he becomes UFA if he becomes UFA, the only things requires are money and cap space.

We dont have enough assets to acquire him before tht because the Isles won't trade him for anything short of an upgrade which we don't have.

It's a simple as that, Tabares isn't going to be trades
