Do the Senators not play for Anderson?

I know Hammond has better stats atm, but why is Anderson 14-13-8 with the ninth best sv% in the league? While Andrew Hammond has a .938 only 0.15 better than Anderson, which is a decent amount ,but not 17-1-1 better....Is it because Anderson doesn't make the key saves at the right time, or is it simply because the team doesn't play for him

Anderson is just very inconsistent and can't stay that way, he has several good starts than just deflates. He has been given the opportunity but just implodes

Which makes no sense why they shouldn't. He's saved their ***** many many times since he's been in Ottawa. We honestly are defensively incompetent in front of Anderson for some unknown reason. How many games since he's been here have we seen him make miraculous save after miraculous save and get us wins we had no business winning?

They play one way in front of Hammond and another way in front of Anderson/Lehner.

Why the hell don't they just play the same way in front of all 3 again?

Its garbage, really.

Well, they didn't play for Hammond in the first period either, he just saved our bacon.

Pretty much. Hammond has been able to keep things relatively close in those situations. Anderson hasn't.

And while it may be unfair to blame Anderson for a lot of those quality scoring chances against, Hammond has been a lot better at making the saves he really shouldn't have to.

I think they play for anyone... They like Anderson.. They are way better to end the season then to start it. All of that said....

They Uber-play for Hammond. For whatever reason they somehow play like Edmonton did for Fuhr for Hammond. It is uncanny. Hammond exudes confidence on the team. Why they absolutely Trust in Hammond is unknown. They just do. It is nothing negative about Anderson at all... It is all on Hammond.

I will say they haven't trusted Lehner all year and that is on Lehner.

Let's talk after Hammond/Anderson play a full NHL season together and let's see how the team plays in front of each goalie, and which is more sustainable.

The past month has been an anomaly in senators hockey. A full season is what this team needs to test truly test out the goalie situation.

Sens play looser in front of him because they know he can make a lot of consecutive saves. Problem is that he has these injuries every now and then that set back his more than adequate work.

Sens are an incredibly inexperienced and young team. They're just very inconsistent.

That 20-game run was amazing, but it was a case where everything went right. Team played solid hockey, we got a lot of great bounces, refs were decent (for a change), and some other teams didn't bring their A game against us.

Hammond and Andy are both solid netminders. I believe either one could bring a team deep into the playoffs.

Well anderson has suffered when playing with an injury. He played great when he wasnt injured... So theres that. Sens also sucked under maclean when anderson had most his starts.

Both are different styles of goalies though. Anderson is better at stopping shots he has time to get in position and challenge. Hammond is better at make lateral saves off passes.

Sens give up most their chances off lateral passes on rushes imo or quick passes into the slot
