That is probably it. Guy had to abruptly change his address 3 times in the last 2 years (Washington to Hershey, then to Anaheim, then to Detroit). Had he stuck around for NHL offers, he'd probably be looking at league minimum and/or two-way where he would still be a fringe guy facing the possibility of moving on waivers or going back to the AHL.

Thats true, but it is still hours away by plane. If you are homesick, you most likely just go back to your homecountry
