Great - here we go again. Bit more severe that just pulling VS.....

'DirecTV Might Drop Fox Cable Channels'

Fox says that DirecTV is threatening to pull the plug on its national and regional cable networks on Nov. 1 unless a new carriage fee agreement can be reached....

..The networks affected include FX, National Geographic Channel, Speed, Fuel TV, Fox Soccer, Fox Soccer Plus, Fox Movie Channel, Fox Deportes and the 19 Fox regional sports networks.'

  2. Not only is DirecTV to damn expensive but this flexing of their muscles over 1st versus and now the FSN networks is why i left them. If you ***** enough and threaten to leave they will try to keep you on. If they do ask for the NHL Center Ice package....It worked for me when they took away Versus.

Directv should be able to cut a deal as they are the only cable/sat provider that actually carries every single FSN. In my 12 yrs of being a Directv sub, they've never been without the FSNs.

Yep, this is true. During the Versus fiasco, I threatened to leave, got CI for free and used those credits to subscribe to local Cable to at least receive Versus while the dispute got handled.

This should be in the BoH.

DirecTV will lose a ton of viewers if they go through with this. Mainly due to how big FX has become.

    How to lose customers 101

Unless they resolve this, I will be dropping DirecTV for another provider.

I remember last year when Dish lost regional FSNs right at the beginning of hockey season. Thankfully they resolved the dispute in about a month.

Would center be affected if directv loses fox sports? I have already feuded with direct over blacked out preds games that should be televised. Some of you have had better luck with direct than me. I threatened to cancel and they were prepared to mail my receiver boxes in a flash

You will likely not lose the games on Center Ice - but their quality may be degraded, it may limit which feeds (home/away) are available, and in market games would still be blacked out.

I didn't have Dish, but my recollection of the Dish/Fox dispute last season (confirmed by googling some satellite forums) is that the dispute did not remove the FOX RSN games from Center Ice, but they were provided in SD only with blacked out commercials. These were provided by the NHL/Center Ice, which still have a contractual agreement with Dish. Normally, a sat provider would just pass through their HD/SD existing feeds which are already being uplinked - but in the case of the dispute Dish was no longer carrying those feeds.

edit: Some discussion of the Oct '10 DISH/Fox dispute:

Sons of Anarchy was the first thing that came to mind when I read this about Directv last night. I used to watch Rescue Me, too, but that's done now. Still love FX, though, and some of the other channels Directv is saying will be cut. Definitely gets me thinking about changing services if this all actually happens.

And just to think, 5 years ago News Corp owned much of DTV.

I hope you are right. I wish DirectTV would come out with a statement regarding Centre Ice customers as to whether or not we will lose games because of this

I switched from Dish Network to DirecTV last year because of this very issue. I could not get Preds games on Center Ice while the channels were dropped.

If I had known this was on the horizon I would have just stuck with Dish and rode out the storm. And now I'm in the middle of the dreaded two year contract.

    Lovely.

They better resolve this ********. Seems like every season there's some sort of stupid ass dispute and the only ones who end up on the losing end of it are the fans themselves. This **** is part of the reason as to why I subbed to DirecTV in the first place because of all the Dish Network disputes. ****ing figures.

Would that limit my Center Ice to whatever feeds aren't FSN?

If so...I don't even have words. I'd drop CI immediately.

Except in NY and Buffalo, where Dish still doesn't have a deal with MSG. Going on to a season +. Dropped Dish and picked up DirecTV (Fios not available yet in my area). Thankfully it looks like it won't be affecting me.

No, but it will probably limit FSN feeds to only one per game and most likely only in SD. Most dual-feeds will go away unless it involves non-FSN networks.

I put the majority of the blame on Fox. This is the fourth provider that Fox has battled with in about a year. That's not a coincidence. Perhaps they need to stop shelling out $500 million for soccer. They pay big money and pass the buck to the providers.

Unfortunately I am locked into 2 years to DTV. Well make that 22months. I am going to be livid if they kick off the FSN and Primeticket feeds of the NHL. Nothing like dropping this bomb onto us 1 month into the season.

Bob Errey is Pittsburgh and they are Root Sports. I don't think they'll be wisked from the DirecTV programming......unfortunately. I wish Pittsburgh would have a Spanish coverage so I don't have to listen to that clown, and I don't speak much Spanish.
