So I've been wondering this for several years and the Edmonton / Toronto game just provided a perfect example.

I'd like to see the league provide a PK/PP stat that isn't just successful times / total times. Rather something that involves time on PK/PP.

In tonight's game, Edmonton gets a PP, it lasts 3 seconds. By virtue of that, Toronto gets a 3 second PP. Seems stupid to equate a 3 second event to a 2 minute event. I think a stat based on time would be more reflective of proficiency?

Not sure if it exists anywhere but I have never seen it.

PP goals/60 likely. efficiency on goals scored per TOI on the PP.

you can look at 5 on 4 PP or any powerplay scenario here:

With how many goal by 60 minutes of powerplay played rates.

I imagine there would be many strange scenario, putting 5 on 3 in the same category, the partial one you described, how 5 minutes penalty, etc... maybe over a 82 games season it all tend to average out among teams too.
