This was definitely Blackwood’s worst game in quite a while. Goals 1-3 were all not good ones. He really shouldn’t have been screened one goal 1 and goal 3 he had leak through him. Goal 2 wasn’t that bad, but too much short side.

At least its guys like Malkin taking the shots and not another of those ‘NHL first’ Cory specialties

To sum up this one:
- Some weak goals let in by both goalies
-NJ had some glorious opportunities to tie it up (Hughes breakaway, 5v3 fail, PP fail after 5v3), some others before the 5v3
-Bad defensive zone passing. Sevs missed horribly on a play in the 3rd, Carrick had at least 2 fails (one leading to the bad pass to wood)
-Missing that ability to finish when you need to....

I only saw the last half of the game but Pittsburgh did look just a hair quicker than we did as to everything.

Why were Mueller snd Subban not together as a pair in the third when Carrick made that back hand pass that Malkin turned over Wood on for the 4th goal? Were Subban and Carrick paired regularly?

On the 5 on 3 - pure hindsight here - we might have done better to have the Zacha - Bratt - Goose line out as a unit with Palms on one point and maybe even a 5th forward (Nico?) on the other point, or swap Nico and Zacha. Anyway that personnel.

What line was Kuokkanen supposed to play on?

People are overreacting, he’s still an AHL player and this is his first time with the team. Like everyone, I’d love it if he played a bigger role and lit it up but people are complaining about every move and apparently a lot of posters are armchair player development experts. Maybe they didn’t want to give him more than he can handle or let him get steamrolled. He’s a prospect we got in a trade two weeks ago, maybe people should slow their roll.

Losses like this are hard to watch, but at the same time we all hope to draft in the top5 or so. I'd just want to see some positive things and player development as well, but I don't know if there was any. I guess Nico looks like he's getting back on track, and Zacha (and the whole euro-line) still looks good. But other than that, a rough night for the rest; Blackwood, the whole defence, Hughes, the 4th line especially. Kuokkanen was pretty invisible, which I guess is expected with the ice time he had.

I can sadly confirm this is true, the arena’s permanent playlist is neither long or particularly good. I get legitimately jealous when I hear much better songs being played in other arenas while watching away games.

The only good thing about this loss is the draft situation. That's it.

No development happened for ANYONE tonight.

If anything, it proved that Nas isn't the coach for this team.

Janne was fine, the one time he got the puck he showed good poise and protected the puck. It’s not his fault Rooney and Hayden don’t do anything. These should be the lines so we can judge talent. Rotate Wood with Kuokkanen when needed.
