That was the day I realized the jig is up, and Hynes needs to go.

I was driving to Vermont & listening to the Devils game on XM via the Caps feed, and the Caps announcer who is a former NHL defenseman was ripping apart the Devils, saying (paraphrasing) that there's no defensive structure in place, it's a complete mess, and it looks like nobody on the ice knows what to do or where they're supposed to be in the defensive zone. Just lots of guys running around. He was basically describing pick-up hockey, and he sounded pretty shocked by the Devils (lack) of any defensive scheme.

It confirmed everything I THOUGHT I was seeing, but to hear it from an NHL defenseman just solidified it for me.

I think my last delusions ended with the Dallas game and that whole road trip (but specifically the Dallas game at the start) after we'd at least had a decent streak at home before then, of course I hadn't actually looked at the standings much till then.

You hung in there for a while, that was around New Years.

I still think Shero and Hynes have a year and a half. They need to sell like madmen at the deadline .. and then kill it this off-season. A repeat of this off-season and regular season next year and they should be shown the door .. Together.

The Key to Shero being shown the Door is OWNERSHIP.

Do they care enough about the NHL Hockey team they own to do something?

I've seen nothing that makes me think they're in a hurry to win, so I think Shero is pretty safe through at least the end of next season.

I honestly gave up on this season two weeks into November. It was pretty much obvious even before that where this was going. I didn’t like the preseason and was legitimately surprised at the 4-0 start but not at the downturn that followed. That said, I never expected them to be this bad this season. They’re awful.

I tried to hang in there for a while, you figured we could rattle off a nice couple of streaks to keep us afloat but after seeing how bad we are on the road that all goes out the window.

When they did the coach's challenge I was sure they 100% found something. I mean, what nitwit would do an offsides challenge without being absolutely certain it would be overturned? John Hynes, Ty-D-Bowl man.

It's a shame because that home opener against the Caps was still to this day one of the most complete and dominating games the Devils had in years, even going back to when a consistent playoff team.

The Devils have a defensive scheme, it's just extremely complicated and poor.

All 5 players need to be making constant reads of the other team, their own team, and how they think the other 4 guys are going to react to the other team. So every moment the team needs to make 15 decisions and if 1 decision fails for 1 moment then it’s chaos and poor positioning.

The hybrid man on man for the center and defenseman versus zone for the wingers, except in some cases, is overly complicated and doesn’t give enough reward even when it’s working properly.

It looked like a hair offsides

It was offsides. Puck in air WELL after it went over. His skate is completely over - you can see white. He tagged up just after this freeze frame. We got screwed yet again because refs don't want to admit their mistakes.

His skate was over in the white the entire time from the puck being shot in to this point. He tagged up just after this point of the picture.

Not because I'm a fan of Hynes but rather because I sunk the time into it and I think it's worth noting the FUBAR status of official reviews...

We iced half an AHL lineup. We also lost on a challenge that clearly was offsides, despite wrongly thinking it was a punted away challenge at first.

We at least showed up today, but I can't say the same for the two disasters before this.

OK I stand corrected. I would just like to ask how the hell the officials didn't see this on replay? I mean that's about as cut and dried as it gets.
